I have to surrender to FMC Carswel on Feb. 5, 2007. That is all I know. I'm in for a money crime that got me 8 months in Carswel. I'm going there due to many medical conditions. Does everyone there have a work detail?

Not everyone at Carswell has a work detail. It is a medical facility foremost and there are numerous inmates that are unable to work due to medical conditions. There are others that do work details with no medical issues to speak of. My wife is not on a detail due to her condition.

Hi - I am headed to Carswell on February 8. I have Bipolar but it is under controll - been medicated by a private psychiatrist since last June. My judge did not even know what Bipolar was! Therefore because the DA told him it was a mental disorder they are sending me to the medical center there. My private doctor says I am okay and do not need to go there. How do I get out of the medical side? What can you buy at the commissary. What are the overall living conditions like? I was sentenced to a year and a day and was told by my attorney that with good behavior I can get out in 10 months. I am 40 and a first time offender with a white collar crime. Is there any possibility of me getting out earlier than 10 months? Thanks - Pam
