View Full Version : Being Pregnant in FPC Bryan mekel 01-15-2007, 11:48 AM Hi, my sister recently just transferred to Bryan and she's pregnant. I just wanted to know how are preganant people treated in prison and do they get the proper medical care. graplndgirl 02-11-2007, 12:06 PM I wasnt pregnant but I taught the GED program there and have several girls in my classes that were. I can say that being pregnant, your sister will probably get better care than most. Medical facility there leaves a lot to be desired. But I do know that with her condition she will have an advantage. :) mekel 02-22-2007, 08:15 AM Thank you for the information i really appreciate it. It gives me a sigh of relief. Emilye2007 05-08-2007, 02:38 PM I just left Bryan on 4/13. Yous sister might can go in the MINT program. Tell her to check with the counsler. What unit is she in? I may know her Zelda50 05-08-2007, 07:04 PM I was going to suggest the MINT program too! Mothers and Infants Together (MINT) Program BOP Program Statement 5200 This program is an alternative, residential program for minimum security women who are pregnant at the time of sentencing. Women are eligible to enter this program at a Community Correction Center (CCC) during their last months (usually two (2) months) of pregnancy. After the birth of the child the mother is allowed three (3) months with the child to form a bond with the new born. Prior to placement in the MINT Program, the mother is required to make arrangements for a custodian to care for the child during her incarceration. Following the three (3) month bonding period, the mother is returned to an institution to complete her sentence. |
