My friend was just sent from county to Valley State Prison for women a week ago. When she left county she could not take anything with her, including her address book, paper, envelopes and bible.:blah: How is she going to be able to send out a letter letting me know her CDC # if she doesn't have any paper, envelopes or stamps? When I get her address/CDC # what can I send to her in reception? Any help will be appreciated.

You can send her paper, stamps and envelopes. If you want to send her a bible it has to be from a book store, like Amazon. If you call the inmate locator, they should have her information by now.

Is there a limit on how much paper, stamps and envelopes I can send per envelope? Thanks for your help.

Can she get a bible there or will I need to send one to her. Also I know some prisons have a limit to how much paper/envelopes and stamps we can send. Does this prison have a limit?

Not sure about paper or envelopes, but you can send 2 books of stamps (40 stamps) in with a letter.

Actually at V.S.P.W. I don't think you can send envelopes. I know in the things you need to know section there are listings with the links to all the prisons and you check. It will tell you what you can and can't send in there. I know I have sent stamps there, and quarterly care packages up to 30 lbs are ok.
When you first get to "A" yard you are given a few pieces of paper, postage paid envelopes, as I recall 4, and a little tiny pencil. she can write to you and once you receive the information you can send postage, paper, etc. If she has money on her books she can purchase those things from canteen. If she never has money she will be considered "indigent" and will receive that same small quantity each month.
