how long does it usually take for them to get mail? When my hubby was at g.b. across the street it only took 2 days. I sent him a letter at the beginning of last week and I dont think he got it yet. Based on the dates on the letters and the postmark on the envelope his only take 2 days to get to me. He is wondering why i havent written back yet. I did call to confirm his reception address but he was not in the system yet even though hes been there a month. How long does reception there usually last? What are the reception visits like? Are strollers allowed? I know this is probably a wierd or stupid question, but I'm 8 months preg. and if i still am when I go for my 1st visit will they touch my stomach or make me lift my shirt to "confirm" that I am preg? I'm asking because of all the wierd ways I've heard of chicks trying to smuggle things in, ruining it for everybody else.
I'm still waiting for my husbands first letter. I found out his location and inmate number the second day that he got there, which was on Monday.
Call 619-661-6500. Ask for reception records and tell them you need his address information. They were, surprisingly, very helpful and nice on the phone when I called.
I've read over and over again that mail there is very slow getting in. And that guys are in reception for awhile until they are mainlined -- we're talking several months.
I haven't visited yet, but I'm very curious to know what the reception visits are like, too. I got use to going to GB and SBDF -- I'm still waiting to get that singned visiting form to be approved. Have you been approved yet? How long could that take?
you may have already called that #. I just don't understand why they would tell you he isn't in the system after a month. They told me after 1-2 days.

i dont know either, even though they supposidly looked him up with the # that he had given me. When i first called they told me he would not be in the system for at least a week. I sent my visit form allready and the lady i talked to said it takes 3-4 weeks to be approved. I was also surprized at how nice and helpful they were on the phone too.

From what I can tell, they are still behind from the holidays, and taking their time getting caught up

Transistion from gb to rjd took about a week to be located for me, but calling the main number as long as you have the new inmate number should be given when you call.

We experienced a serious delay in obtaining personal property from county to state, some things were even discarded. He may not have stamps, paper, pens, etc... unless he begins to barter on what he will get in the future. Also they were slow to transfer the $$ from the county books to the state books. you may want to use http://jpay.com and pay the $2.99 fee to get money on his books; but he will still have to wait his turn to go to the canteen.

It may take 2 to 3 months before you can visit, he has to get the proper form from them, mail it to you, than you send it back and wait 4 to 6 week for approval.
Are strollers allowed? No, wheelchairs yes.

I am sorry to say, your child will be born before you get to see your man (unless you are already approved for visiting - which is an entirely different experience than gb.)
