cadustin 01-08-2007, 01:56 PM Here is some information, I hope it helps. As soon as your men write, you will have more information.
Mail:
It will depend on what yard they are on for the PO Box number, but here is what I have
Name CDC#
Yard-Mod-Bed
PO BOX 799XXX (the xxx depends on what yard he is on)
San Diego, CA 92179
Address and phone number to Donovan:
480 Alta Road
San Diego, CA 92179
(619) 661-6500
Money orders just get sent to the inmate as if you were sending a letter. The mail room takes out the money order and it goes from there.
Visiting is ok. You line up along Otay Mesa Road, which connects to Alta Road, and the guard comes out to get you in the morning. If you get there after visiting has started, you can just go to the gate. They check your trunk, you park at the Friends on the Outside trailer and a bus comes every few minutes to drop off and pick up to take you to the prison. You will get a number and when your number is called, you get processed and go in. Hope this helps!!

gothica 01-14-2007, 09:26 PM Can Someone Tell Me How Many Sheets Of Paper An Envelopes Are Allowed To Be Sent At One Time? And Can You Tell Me What Time Should I Get In The Line If I Want To Be In The 30's Or 40;s Number? Thank You !!!!
luvnmyinmate 01-14-2007, 09:29 PM Call them and check on the money order address because all prisons have different answers to that. Lansaster has a different mailing address for money orders. You can also pay the jpay.com and it will get there faster.

cadustin 01-15-2007, 12:03 AM The earlier the better. If you get there at about 6am you should be around 20. It might be better now, but from what I am hearing, it is still the same. As for paper and envelopes, I believe it is 20 at a time.

mike5335 01-15-2007, 03:20 PM I'll add my 2 cents (which is about what it is worth) to (1) confirm that Jpay does work to Donovan and that (2)state my observation is not that a guard comes up to motion cars in but that the lead car (at the corner of Otay Mesa and Alta) takes the initiative to roll so that it will reach the parking lot at the specified opening time...which I recall is 7:30 a.m. Everyone stays in line behind that car and notes who is in the car in front of them. Then after we get out of our cars in the parking lot, we line up in front of Friends Outside in that order.
The address for money orders is:
Inmates Name and ID
PO Box 799007
San Diego, CA 92179-9007
Please don't hesitate to correct me if things have changed....
Best!

cadustin 01-16-2007, 12:27 AM Mike, that sounds about right, the only difference is when I was going, the guard would come out and get us and they would give us a pass with a number on it at the gate and you would turn that pass in when you got over to the prison. So, my guess is that has changed now. Do they still have the bus that comes to get you from FOTO trailer?

ECARRI 01-17-2007, 05:48 PM Has anyone visited any loved ones at Donovan that were transferred from Lancaster C yard? If so, is visiting better, worse or the same.....just curious.
luvnmyinmate 01-18-2007, 02:08 AM C yard visiting was cool and relaxful, they don;t stress and if i am not mistaken C yard is the SNY unless they have changed it so usually there is no fighting there.

OneManWoman 03-05-2007, 02:54 PM I have a few questions about Donovan that I hope someone can answer for me. Is it a Special Needs Prison in general, or just the one yard? Also, when you line up for visits, do you get there early in the morning or do you need to spend the night? I have heard about Solano and Lancaster.........fights, cutting, saving places, etc. I was just wondering if it was the same or different. Thankx!
sunmoon728 03-05-2007, 03:17 PM what is the sny yard?
OneManWoman 03-05-2007, 11:21 PM "sny" is the Special Needs Yard.
JustDoingTime 03-09-2007, 10:35 PM I visited at Donavan last weekend- I got into the line about 6:40am- and was on the 3rd bus up to processing- I was down at the yard at about 9:30; every one was kind and helpful. You just are not allowed to wear any type of demin--- no black jeans, or- any type of sweats.
NORA E 03-13-2007, 09:08 PM Does anyone know what level the SNY is at Donavan ?
JustNoBody 03-13-2007, 09:30 PM It is a level 4 SNY yard
NORA E 03-14-2007, 12:21 AM It is a level 4 SNY yard
Thanks I was hoping it would be level 3.
ms.shorty619 03-29-2007, 11:33 PM Ok When I Went To Visit My Husband At Donavan He Was In The 4 Yard.there Is Alot Better Than The Others Cuz They Are More Relaxed And You Dont Really Have To Worrie About The Officers Saying Anything.when You Go And Visit You Go Into The Visiting And Parole Pick Up Parking Lot ,then You Go Into The Trailer And Sign In They Give You A Slip, which Has Numbers On It.you Wait Till The Co Comes With The Van To Pick Up People.that Takes You To The Visiting Area.if You Have An Appointment You Get Into That Line,if You Have A Contac Visit Then Wait For Your Num. To Be Called,go Into Line.then I Think The Prosses You Know From There.
GavachaOC 10-06-2007, 03:16 PM Does anyone know how to find out through phone calls or internet search...How to find out if someone is still in Otay Mesa detention or if they have already been deported?
shygirl323 10-11-2007, 09:50 PM Are velour, terry cloth or nylon pants acceptable? What about pants with zippers?
JustNoBody 10-11-2007, 10:54 PM Gavac~
You can call the inmate locator number in Sacramento--- it is a 916 number- you give them the inmates CDC number- or a DOB and they tell you where they are
ABRAHAM310 10-14-2007, 05:10 PM Whats The Folsom Money Orders Address?
