I posted this in another area before I saw this immigration site...so I am going to put it here too. Here goes...I have just had the most frustrating, angry,....I can't even come close to the terms or words I want to use for what was said and happened to me today. Here is what happened and what I need help with....if any has any ideas PLEASE let me know. I am not going to sit down and take this I received a phone call early this morning from a friend that said my husband had called him yesterday to tell him they were moving him and deporting him to Cuba. They collected his property from him and took him away. I called INS, talked to the agent that is in charge of his case and the BS started....He said that Juan had been moved to another facility and he doesn't really know why. He thinks it's because his review is being done. He said that his property should have been sent with him. I called the old jail and they said it was sent, I called the new jail to verify that he was there (don't trust INS) and they said he was. Ok...at least I know where he is at. Now comes the part that sent me up the wall. I asked the agent that if Juan were to be flown to Cuba, would I be notified. he said no, I do not figure into the picture. He said that if Juan were to ever be deported I would never be contacted. I have no rights to my husband. I told him that was not an acceptable answer and wanted to know who I could talk to get this problem resolved. He said he was the end of the line...I couldn't talk to anyone else. However, by the end of the conversation I did get his supervisor's name and number (however, all I got was an answering machine)....Now, I am going to fight this. I am his wife and I do have rights to my husband. I am kind of afraid to rock the boat on this because it might hurt Juan, but yet I don't want this system to make me feel like I am nothing. Any suggestions on how to protest this?
I AM NOT GOING TO STAND FOR THIS :fb:
Thanks for listening.

Joy, sounds like that boat needs some rocking. I mean, if they are planning to deport him to Cuba (do they actually do this - I thought Cuba wasn't taking deportees) then the only thing you can do is try and stop it by any means necessary. This doesn’t mean getting out of hand in conversations with INS and others. Then they will try their best to keep you in the dark. As for Rights.. Since when did you loose them?
I am not well versed in this area but it sounds wrong to me.. What about contacting representatives? Anti-Castro/Cuba groups?

Well, I rocked the boat. I contacted ACLU, several prison rights activits groups and both govenors of kansas and Louisiana, just for a start. I have been on the net all day and all night searching and I found two web sites for legal aide for anyone in the future needing immigration help. They are:

http://www.usdoj.gov/eoir/probono/probono.htm
http://www.ciej.org/

I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for listening guys and if you find anything that could help....PLEASE let me know

Joy,
I read in the paper yesterday that the senate will pass a bill reopneing the opportunity for illegal aliens to apply for permanent residency throuh their spouse for $1000. They will have a window of time it is avalible, from when they pass the bill until Nov. 30, 2002. I don't know if it will appl since Juan is incarcerated by look into it! If I get any more info I'll let you know.

A $1000 dollars? Wow, isn't enough he paid the price to get here by getting into a raft and risking his life on the ocean? Oh well, the man's worth every penny of it!!!!!!
Thanks
