I was sentenced yesterday (Thursday) on tax evasion/mail fraud for 30 months. My attorneys are filing my appeal today. The whole case is a railroad job since I had inside info on corrupt state politicians. I am a 30 yr old single mother of a 10 yr old. I'm engaged and my fiance lives with us. My ex is in the DEA. The prosecutor told the judge that I am an extreme flight risk. ? Even though I have been unemployed since May and have had to sell everything I own to pay rent. They told me to report Tues of next week. I have no time to make arrangements for my son. My ex refuses to allow my son to stay with my fiance even though we have lived together for almost 3 years. I don't have parents so he wants my son to go live with his, 4 hours away, even though he's just an adoptive father. I learned through an atty other than mine of the boot camp program and am all for it so I can get back home to my son. I forwarded the info to my attorneys but have yet to hear from them. How do I get into one of these programs? I have little time. Is there a way to postpone reporting while arranging the facility? These people want me behind bars immediately to shut me up. I've already been told by 3 attorneys that I will most likely win my appeal. But I'm afraid of losing my son while my appeal is processed. He doesn't know anything going on, I'm telling him tonight. He will be destroyed. Please help me in finding out how to get into one of these boot camps.

Hello,
I really don't have any information to help you, I'm sorry. I know absolutely nothing about boot camps or about Mississippi. I'm from California and my son is in a state prison.
But I did want to welcome you.
Hopefully someone who can help you will come along soon.
If this is a federal case, would it help to post in the Federal forum? Also, there is a forum about going to prison that might be really beneficial. And there is also a forum specific to your state. I would say to post in all of those and that should get you some answers.
Has your attoeny considered utilizing the media about the REAL reasons for this? I would think that a good investigative reporter would have a heydey with political corruption! Something like 60 minutes, you know?
Good luck to you!

ampoole,
I am sorry to hear all of this is happening so fast to you. I don't know about Mississippi, but in California they have what is called a "Cruz Waiver" and it gives you time to get your affairs in order before remanding yourself into custody. I am not sure that you have it in Mississippi, or if it is to late to use this if you do have it, but it is something to look into. Talk to your lawyer immediately about it and see what can be done.
Good luck to you.
