redinthelou 07-26-2004, 03:23 AM God Bless You mistify, I will pray for you!! I know how hard it is, and I am praying for you.
but we cant, and do not have control over any one else,we only have the ability to control ourself, our children have minds of their own,and no matter how much positive influences we have tried to instill in our children, things happin that we cant control, all we can do is miss them, love them no matter what, let them know we are there for them as always, and pray, put it in god's hands, and ask for strength to accept the things that are most difficult. the world is a crazy place. we just have to have faith.
keep keeping on, what doesent kill us makes us stronger!

GSPack 07-30-2004, 09:02 PM #1Son's Mother...So glad to hear of other Kairos Outside Weekend Retreats in other States. I attended my first one as a guest in April of 2003 ( I havent been the same since..for the good.Praise God) and this past April I was a Kitchen Member I was still amazed at the impact to these women this retreat has. for both the Guests and the Team Members. Oh the love and fellowship and non judgement was so devine it brings tears back into my Eyes..I also gave a talk on this yrs retreat and I never in my life have spoken to a group of women but it went off without a hitch Thanks to the Lord.
For all you women out there..search on you computer...call your prisons and see if they Have Karios and by golly sign up to go as a guest. I can guarentee you will come home Sunday night a changed person..at peace with yourself! There is no cost to you as a guest..they make all necessary arrangements..all you must bring is yourself and some clothes and blankets (dont forget that spcl Pillow). Food snacks music and friendship is all provided by the Karios Team...did I mention food??? Homemade cookies and treats and candy and gosh you name it they will have it. If anyone wants to know when the next Weekend Retreats are being held I might be able to get that infor for you if you PM me and tell me what state you are in...You can also go to a neighboring state I think.
These fine people also hold Karios inside for our loved ones(some have gone on the be Team Members on the outside) and it is just as special..You want to know what happens...you say????..Can't tell you cause it is a 3 day surprise and we r bound by secrecy..The motto for the Weekend is: What is Said Here Stay's Here! Your identity is always guarded..even now when i send email to my coworkers and Team Leaders I use the blind copy on my email. And you will earn the same respect.

BrettsMom 07-31-2004, 02:35 PM Please tell me more about this Kairos. what is it? how does it work?
angelwings 08-02-2004, 06:38 AM I have been on the Walk to Emmaus and do Epiphany in the youth prison here in N.C. Epiphany is very similiar to Kairos. It is a weekend spent in the prison and the Chaplin is able to choose 25 guys to come down and participate. We sing and dance, we do the limbo, we have about 15 talks on different areas of life, we feed them family style at their tables, we bring in Dominos pizza for them,we have a forgivenss talk and activity, we do a huge Bday party for all the guys. We call the guys "stars" all weekend and their Bday cake is a big star with their name on it. We have a hug line every night and all the workers line up and the stars walk on through hugging all of us and us hugging back!! Then we go back up every second Tuesday and fourth Saturday for re-unions...all the workers cook and we go back up for food and fellowship. We have been to Western YOuth here in N.C about 21 times. Therefore, we do about four weekends a year. On re-unions if you are still at the prison and have not been shipped out you come down for it...so we usuallly cook for about 50-60. The weekend is full of changes for the stars and for us that work it!! God does an amazing job and touches alot of hearts.
GSPack 08-02-2004, 10:27 AM Thank you Angelwings for sharing a Prison Kairos Inside Weekend I so want to be a part of one of those..Of course in the male prison we women are on the ouside and canot particiapte on the actual work with the men. We cook the meals and prepare the special "sur[prises" for them. We have lots and lots of Kairos ladies that bake dozens and dozens of cookies and treats for the prisoners, which is their agape..a gift of love and fellowship to the "stars"
God bless you for all your work in Kairos and I hope to get more inviolved once I get a drivers License so I too can participate in Walks and all the other things Kairos does. this group has brought me so much closer to God, something I have not been in the many mnay years. He had a plan for me and meeting and mentoring people online seems to have been just what he wants me to do!
Hugs and /Bless you

BrettsMom PM me or anyone you see posting about Kairos involvement. One of us will direct you or answer any of your Questions. I am sure there are many chapters in Florida.
angelwings 08-02-2004, 03:45 PM I know in Kairos women can not go into the prison...but in Epiphany, which is for youths, and through the Emmaus community, a woman can go into the prisons...check out the web page for Emmaus and they should direct you to Epiphany...maybe you could do a walk where you live!!!

woundedangel 08-10-2004, 09:59 PM I live in Kansas and went to Missouri for a Karios weekend (10 hr drive) and had a "VERY" refreshing wonderful time. They are a very supportive family and we keep in constant contact with each other through the local mail but mostly email.
The weekend is a great experiance and very rewarding to me.The group I was with held no judgement and most where guest from previous weekends turn team leaders or angels.
It renewed my faith and had helped me to a degree that I had lost.
I am in hopes that when it comes to Kansas that I can share with another the love and support.
EVERYONE NEEDS A KARIOS WEEKEND..........Check out the Missouri forum and see what they say

pipperkk 03-09-2006, 06:49 AM Just found out my 26 year old daughter is going to prison for 4 years . I don't know what to send her or what to do for her I'm lost . She's not in prison yet but will be soon.
Believing 03-09-2006, 07:13 AM pipperkk, welcome to PTO. You might want to post on the Okahoma forum to get some answers about what to send from people who are familiar with the Oklahoma prisons. Although, there may be a parent here who can help you also. I wanted to welcome you though and let you know that we have all gone through what you're going through now. You'll find love and support here. Unconditional love is important; letters, taking phone calls, and helping financially are all things you can do for your daughter. But, I'm sorry, I don't have any details on how the prison system works in Oklahoma.
My prayers are with you both. My son who is 28 was sentenced to 5 years, but could get released as early as this June. I'm leaving it in God's hands. Feel free to PM me if you'd like.
With blessings,
