Hey, I’m a newbie to this site a lot of these postings are quite helpful.

I plan on visiting my dude for the first time next week. GRVC to be exact. Some posting made a reference to “shaking your hair out”. I normally wear pony tail attachments affixed with bobby pins. I can still “shake my hair out” lol but will I not make it through because I have bobby pins in my hair? Knowing that they are just bobby pins will the Co make me take my pony tail weave out in order to visit or will they just scan my head (with the wand) which is what they normally do in airports and still allow me to visit.

I could get a nice wash n set but I prefer what I normally do. Considering this day and age in which pony tail attachments/hair weaving is quite common just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this on a visit.

I am ONLY familiar with fed facilities and HAVE seen women with attachments and weaves get in just fine. I have never seen anyone get their hair shaken out... I dont think the bobby pins will be strong enough to set off the detector. If worse comes to worse they will wand you and let you thru. Hope that helps..

Lol, I don't mean to laugh but you sound just like me in September! That was my signature hair style back then (long brown curly pony tail held up with bobby pins) and I was sooooo worried abt the same thing. I never asked on here but I took my chances and went there & it was no problem. I always set off the detector but they just wand me and tell me to go ahead. They wont make you shake your hair out or take out the weave lol. I've been to EMTC and AMKC several times with no problems.

September was my first time there ever but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just be prepared to wait and be searched. It's kinda annoying but the time goes by fast...and once u see your guy it'll be all worth it :)

Lol. I was laughing too when I wrote the post but it was a serious question. thanks for the all of the feedback. I guess it varies from place to place but we’ll see. I think I may visit the week after next. Will keep you posted.
