I would like to visit Rikers, but its been pretty hard for me to access the island. The easyest way is of course if an inmate can ask for my visit (put my name down). If someone could help me with that, i would be great.

i am an architecture student making a research on Rikers Island. I am studying the impact of prison architecture and proposing new uses for old buildings there. (not promoting new jails!) this is just a school research and it will probably have no real impact on the existing situation.

I am 25, male, studying in Switzerland at the EPFL University.

PS: i am happy to accompany someone under 18 who would like to visit an inmate, bring something for an inmate, etc.

Hey. YOu dont need to be on anyone visiting list to vist them. The public bus brings you right onto the island

I visit Rikers Island every week and you don't need to be put on any list. You can take the public bus at Queensboro Plaza #101R it will take you all the way to the reception center on Rikers. If you decide to drive there, you will need to park your car in the lot right before you cross the bridge and take the public bus...
