View Full Version : Loved one in Yuma, AZ? Timsbaby 08-27-2003, 06:53 PM I was wondering if anyone had someone in Yuma, AZ? I just wanted to get some info from you...I am going to visit for the first time and have a few questions. Thanks. Lana Golden Bough 02-27-2004, 09:47 PM Hi Lana, I too have a loved one in Yuma as of 2-2004 and will be going to visit hopefully sometime this summer. I am guessing that you have probably been there to visit by now. I would appreciate any information about Yuma visits and how touchy the CO's are there. Thanks, Golden Bough WINDENSGRL 03-10-2004, 01:08 PM Depending on what unit your visiting, the CO's attitudes and the courtesy levels are different. I visit every weekend. He was originally in Cheyenne and now he is in Dakota. In Cheyenne the CO's most of them rude and didn't care about you or your feelings. Dakota the CO's have a heart! If you visiting Cheyenne, make sure your shirt neckline is not one inch below your collar bone or they will turn you away. Same with plain white t-shirts, if they can see your straps from behind, you can bet your going back outside to wait for the bus and back to the car or the store to get a new shirt! Timsbaby 03-16-2004, 11:30 AM wow, they're that touchy about your shirt? It's gonna be pretty hard to find shirts that go up to the neckline in the summer. Yeah, he's in the Cheyenne unit, I guess I'll be dealing with the heartless ones. WINDENSGRL 03-16-2004, 02:12 PM There is really only about two CO's that aren't completely heartless, one is "Jones" and the other is "Srgnt. Milton" Just make sure you neckline doesn't even come close to showing too much skin below there. White T-shirts if they can see your straps, your going back. Kissin' make sure you get yours in when you first walk in cause they will warn you and it goes on file. Not all that bad if you keep to yourself ya know! I am there every weekend and when he got moved to Dakota the change in CO attitudes was UNREAL they are so nice over there. I would have thought that a Level 4 yard would be worse cause Cheyenne is a 3 yard and is less security, but I was wrong. Much more human walking into Dakota. Good luck again! Timsbaby 03-21-2004, 11:21 AM Windensgrl...I had another question...what about your pants. He told me not to wear anything that is too tight. So, how tight, is too tight? Do they want you to wear really baggy pants, like sweats? I just wanna be prepared. Thanks. WINDENSGRL 03-22-2004, 11:46 AM No Blue jean material of any type they can be black or brown or cacky, no orange anything. Pants depending on the unit, if they are tight enough to see form no big deal if its to where you can't breath when standing....Don't wear them! :) Just use precaution, we all wanna show our men something, but the CO's make sure its hard to get to that point. Just regular jeans or pants is fine. They dont care unless you wear leather pants that gives the imagination nothing to go on you know what I mean?! When are you going? faithfulforever 03-22-2004, 07:19 PM Good luck Timsbaby :) WINDENSGRL filled you in real well. We used to be at Cheyenne. I visited there for about 3 years. They used to let you wear shorts mid-thigh, but where he is now they say knee-length. I once wore a white shirt and a bra exactly the same color as my skin. They made me turn around and didn't think I had a bra on so I snapped the strap and they let me in. Your blouse has to have sleeves. You can call visitation and ask about sandals. They change back and forth on that too. I used to call before every visit to see what was up. There isn't much shade outside, but they keep it cool inside. People get there early and all three units go back on the vans. When I first started there you could drive back. They used to run out of food but that improved just before he moved. They started restocking mid-day. The food was better there than were he is now. They were not all mean there, but are worse when the Srgt (Davis when I was there) is around. It took a couple years to get them to be nicer to me and I reminded them I am only there every 6 months or so and they let us slide a little. I mean what were they gonna do, suspend visits for 6 months LOL Timsbaby 03-23-2004, 10:32 AM Thanks a lot for the info ladies... Well, I hope to be going real soon, possibly next month. Our visits keep getting postponed for different reasons. As soon as my finances are right, I'll be hitting the road, for that 250 mile drive...lol...I'm actually more nervous about the co's and what to wear, than finally laying eyes on him again after all this time, ya know? He told me yesterday that he might me moving to the min. yard next door, then possibly moving closer to me in 6 months...anyone have any info on the min. yard? Thanks again...oh, what's the deal with the food situation..he said to bring a roll of quarters...is that right? what kind of nasty s**t should I be preapred for? lol faithfulforever 03-23-2004, 05:27 PM Last time I was there you were allowed 20.00 per visitor. If you are staying all day I would bring close to that much. It doesn't have to be quarters only. I take dimes and nickles because sometimes you don't get change. It has to be in a clear plastic bag or zip up purse (like a sandwich bag, make-up bag or coin purse) If you take cigarettes they can't be open. The food there isn't too aweful :) They even had fresh fruit a couple times! People used to buy a full days worth as soon as they arrived so they wouldn't run out. Not a bad idea as sometimes a lot of people show up. They used to have a variety of frozen/microwave burritos, burgers, sandwichs. They had Oreo Cheese Cakes that were yummy and lots of chips/candy/sodas as well. I think we eat a lot out of sa-sa-sa-exual tension :) Jewelry can only be one pair of earings, one wedding ring set and the only necklace can be religious. No sunglasses unless prescription. There is also a rule on prescription drugs if you take them. Nothing else can go inside. Oh, one key on your keyring and your driver's license. Thay should cover you. I always got there 30 - 60 minutes early and waint in line out front (yes there will be one) and stay until they kick me out. If you are going two days there are some cheap motels off interstate 8. Good Luck! Timsbaby 03-25-2004, 02:40 PM LOL...sa-sa-sa-sexual tention, that's too funny. Yeah, I figure there'll be a lot of that. I'm not too sure if I'll sit there and won't be hungry at all or eat up everything in sight. I also wondered about piercings. I read that you can have so many on your face(which I don't have) and ears, but what about ones that are not visable? Do you know if there are any rules regarding that? Hey, thanks a lot for the info.. faithfulforever 03-25-2004, 04:53 PM I don't know about other body piercing. I think you get 2 piercings anywhere :) at least were he is now, but you might want plastic if you have any hidden piercings that might set off metal detectors. Our son wore plastic in his tongue so he wouldn't have to take it out. That was a few years ago, so I don't know if they look. Precious metals don't set off detectors either, so depeneding on where other piercings are they would not notice. If you are worried you could call and ask to speak to a visitation officer on the yard and they can let you know for sure. I've heard they limit the number so you don't give them to someone inside so they can do new piercing. Go figure. WINDENSGRL 04-23-2004, 11:42 AM Hey Piercings are fine, they don't care as long as you don't have a jewelry store hanging from your face. One pair of ear-rings and Sandals are fine. I have 3 piercings and it never sets off the detector, (metal). Also, watch out with touching, saw a girl get her visits taken for "excessive touching" gonna get in trouble for that you may as well take him in the bathroom and make it worth it! :o Love that idea huh! Timsbaby 04-26-2004, 07:35 PM Thanks Windensgrl...lol...I'm with you there...if it was possible, I would pay a CO $200 to get Tim in the bathroom for 10 mins!!! Really, I'd settle for 5 mins...lol...a girl can dream, can't she? WINDENSGRL 04-29-2004, 08:33 PM LOL I have only seen one couple try it and it didn't work, all they did was get their visits taken for 6 months! Timsbaby 04-30-2004, 10:53 AM If we could pull it off, I would do it!!! And if we got our visits taken away for a while, it would SOOOOOOO be worth it...I need to stop...lol faithfulforever 04-30-2004, 10:40 PM Hey, 6 months suspension isn't too bad. I mean, there are worse punsihments, right? But I would be too chicken. |
