I was wondering if any of you have had a problem with calls being interrupted "EXESSIVILEY"? For quite some time I have been disconnected cause they say "a 3 way calling devise has been detected" (I don't even have 3 way calling) and today the guards continued to interrupt our call until we finally just decided to try again later. I don't believe there was any reason for the disruptions this morning, they had no where to be or nothing to do and I really believe they just wanted to give us a hard time. What do you think?

i think that is exactly what they want to do. they have some kind of system to monitor for those kinds of things and since you dont have 3-way, what else could it be. sorry, ive just seen their evil, hypocritical, vindictive side too much to believe it is all an honest mistake.
if it were a mistake, if you or others who called with complaints would not have to worry about repurcussions to your loved one just b/c you called to complain. if that makes sense.
nothing to be done but pray for those who have lost the ability to be human and forgive and help heal those in their charge. hang in there :)

It could be that whoever is assigned to monitor the calls didn't connect properly, or it could be, as it has happened during calls with my son that someone on the tier picked up on the line. I guess for all their high-tech security, they can't quite get it right on a landline. Who knows. It is highly aggravating and EXPENSIVE since the first minute of every collect call is $5.89....and I just can't make myself refuse the call :-)

WELL! My son called (collect!) to tell me the results of his first clemency and parole board (no to a reduction in sentence, but YES to recommending a reduced custody level) Sure enough, a "3-way event was detected" and dead air occurred. My son called right back, said no one on the tier picked up because the other phone was in plain sight and no one had gone near it. So, we picked up where we left off and it happened again. In the meantime I told him that whoever is doing the monitoring of calls evidently needs a lot of training on how to do it without interrupting the damned call. Aggravating as hell. Hope they heard me!!!

I remember when I was at the USDB there was a way to get around the "official" method to dial a collect call.
Somehow we could get a hold of a regular operator and try to ask for a collect call. If the operator was not paying attention she would do it. The cost of the collect call was a lot cheaper and 3 way calling could be accomplished.
