Hello everyone:
I met with my job developer with the Urban League. She provided me with some information I am going to share with you.
In Los Angeles there's a traing course for women and men in construction. The course is free and eight weeks in length. You can train for the following: Electrician, Plumber, Sheet Metal Worker, Carpenter, and the like. Once you have completed your training you join a union, and they assist you in locating jobs.
According to this job developer your criminal background is not checked. I don't know if this is true or not.
Check out there web site. www.centuryhousing.org (click on training). The Urban League has many branches accross 38 states. Check and see if you state has an office. Everyone is welcome no matter your race or offense. The Federal Government funds them so they are eager to place people and provide training.
