My husband is in Lee County Jail where he was transferred from Limestone when his time was up. He is now waiting to go in front of a judge on Feb. 23rd 2007 which I can not believe because he was transferred there on Oct. 26, 2006. I do not understand the system in AL maybe because I am from CA. Does anyone know what if anything can be sent to him? Also any information on how to pre-pay collect calls would be helpful. The service that comes through when he calls now costs me $50 for three ten minute phone calls. Surely there is a better and cheaper way. Also I sent him 20 and I guess they took ten for two medication. If anyone has any info they want to share or they have a loved one in Lee County as well please let me know. My email address is (removed per pto guidelines, please pm member)

Do you receive your call thru correctional billig? or who are you billed thru? There is a company called Prison Calls Online that does pre-pay. I know the county is different than the state in items they can receive. You could call the Lee County jail and they should be able to give you a list of what he can have.

I am a PRO when it comes to Lee County!!! I live in Lee Cty and my fiance was there for 8 months before they moved him to Easterling. It's the "main" jail in the county. The city jails & the Auburn University campus police all take anyone they arrest to the justice center (that's what it's called). I'm not sure why in the world your phone calls are costing you soooo much. Maybe b/c you are in Cali:confused:. That was the main thing we liked about him being there was the phone calls. He could call my cell phone or home phone & the calls were only like 4 bucks for 15 minutes!! Another good thing about the phone service was he could call me just to give me "little messages". After you answer there are 2 pauses where they can speak. During those pauses he would just say "I love you" or "I miss you" or if there was something he needed or someone I needed to call, the pauses were long enough for him to tell me; but, I couldn't answer him. He could call as many times a day as he wanted & do that and it never charged the prepay acct. There were alot of days I didn't actually have conversations with him...just those little messages! Which was good enough for me:D ! I talked to him every single day he was there (when the phones were working)!! When he called home it would go through just like a collect call & would bill my phone service. I had to use a credit card & set up a pre-paid account for my cell phone. I'll PM you & give you the # to set up an acct. It was soooo easy!! You can either put 25 or 50 dollars on your account at a time. The only part that sucks is everytime you add money to the account, they charge like a "connection" fee. They automatically take off $4.75 of the $25 and i believe $9 & some change from the 50. I can't remember that exact price. I always just put 25 on. They can call anytime of day up until 10 at night. The jail is under MAJOR construction right now...they are expanding b/c of all the inmates they now house. I know when Roger was there they were having a huge problem with the phone lines. They would be down for anywhere from 1-5 days. They may have remedied that by now, since they are so far along in the construction. As far as sending him things...I'm not sure how they would do it since you would have to mail your stuff. Thursday is the designated day to take money orders, underwear, thermals, socks, t-shirts & sneakers. All of the clothing has to be white - of course!! I just always went up there & took the stuff for him. I never had to put his inmate # on any of his letters I sent or the money orders. On the letters, I just put his name & the justice center's addy. Also, as far as $ for meds...I don't remember him having to pay anything for any of his meds. Maybe he did & he just never told me...but I'm pretty positive he never had to pay for any of that while he was in Lee Cty. It's not that bad, as far as jails/prisons go. The food is horrible, several of the CO's are on "power trips", the visitations sucked...b/c you couldn't actually be with them. All you had was an 8x8 glass window to look at them through:angry: . I hope I've been somewhat helpful. If you need to know anything else...just PM me!!! I'll be glad to help!!
