State police at Gibson, PA, accounced Sunday that Rashaun D. Garner, age 17, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, has been charged with criminal homocide in connection with the shooting death of Stephen Smith, age 20, of Nicolson, Wyoming County.
Police said Smith's body was found at 4 a.m. Friday (day after Thanksgiving) along Route 92 in southern Susquehanna County, about 200 yards from Wyoming County. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Susquehanna County Coroner Anthony Conarton.
The two men were arguing while riding in a friend's vehicle before they got out and Garner shot Smith with a handgun and left him on the road, police said.
Police apprehended Garner hiding in a safe at a residence in Lackawanna County.
I don't know why a 17 year old would want to shoot someone on a Thanksgiving weekend... but I hope he can get a good plead bargain from the prosecutor, instead of a life sentence.
