I'm sorry to report that all visits at Donovan have been cancelled for this weekend, including Thanksgiving Day. When I called to confirm my visit tomorrow (which would have been my first one), I was told they found another active case of TB. The good news is I was able to schedule for the following weekend. I am terribly disappointed, but I am glad I decided to check. Now, do I keep my fingers crossed or should I not even hold my breath?
I'll be giving thanks for the good health of all our loved ones tomorrow.

Another active case? I somehow doubt that ....check out the website:
rjdvisiting (it's a .org)
It says visit are canceled because the screening is not complete. Glad to know they are taking their sweet time (while we suffer the repercussions).
I'm very sorry you will miss your first visit, swimupstream, and I am sorry to all who are affected by this cancelation.

I asked if the cancellation was due to the TB scare. The answer I got was, "yeah, they found another case". Interpret as you wish. When used in public health or epidemiology, I understood the term "case" referred to one who has the disease in question rather than one who has been exposed to it. My apologies for any undue concern I may have caused anyone.

Yes, you are correct on the terminology of the word "case." I only meant to indicate how questionable it is. In fact, the visiting department has never given me anything but misinformation, just as in the case of being assured yesterday that visits would proceed this Thanksgiving and weekend. I wasn't questioning you...I was questioning them. Indeed, my frustration is even more heightened by the fact that my finacee is on the 5 yard, which is outside the prison grounds and has no contact (and would thusly not be exposed) within Donovan. Sorry for making you feel defensive, swimupstream
P.S. If I am not mistaken, these past two weeks of cancelation are the first in nearly a year at Donovan, so I would look forward to next week!.

None taken Xloudy. I'm hopeful things go well for all of us next weekend. In the mean time, let's do our best to have as happy a Thanksgiving as we can. We still have many things for which we ought to be grateful (not the least of which is this forum!).

My husband is in reception at Donovan, do I need to have an appointment to visit? I have already been approved.

I believe you do. I would call there and make sure. I think they have to be done a week in advance though.
