Hi justamother and welcome to PTO. I am moving your post to the Mississippi -Parchman forum as members there will be able to help. I hope you hear from your son soon.

I don't know anything about unit 30 personally, but maybe I can help you figure out why you haven't heard from him. I assume you got his unit number from the MDOC inmate locator. Do you know if he has money on his books to buy stamps and paper? You might also want to call your phone company and make sure you are allowed to accept collect calls. If you are all clear with them, then try calling correctional billing.

he was in cmcf and i sent money up there and he called on a weekend one time and then they moved him. I looked him up on the mdoc and it reads he is in parchman unit 30. that is all i know

He may not have gotten his phone list in order yet. He should be calling you any day now.

I agree - it generally take anywhere from 4-6 weeks for his phone list to be turned on, especially with it being the holidays.

Does anyone know about Unit 30-A-Azone. My man may be coming home soon. I hope anyways. He tells me the guards make passes at him could that be true.
I am so confused.

There are female guards in the prison, and some of them might make sexual passes at inmates.

What are you confused about - maybe we can help you.

well I'm confused because they have the weapons and he might have to do whatever they ask of him, or does he?

Guards do not have weapons in prison - no weapons, just mace and pepper spray.

A female guard is only going to show intrest in someone if she thinks he will show it back. Tell him to ignore and avoid her at all cost.

well sat on the phone all day with parchman, as i do about 1day a week. seems he has always got something on his list for me to do!! :P but anyways, the counsler in 30-D...you can never get her to get on the phone, then if you do she is rude. you would think people who choose jobs in social work would be nice and warm. i know my sister and my aunt are (who are both social workers). well anyways after spending about 3 hrs on the phone, they moved him!! grrrrrrrr to 30-A. i know that 30-D is the school unit but what is 30-A? he said it is like moving from the roach motel to the super 8! so that must be good. my bf is very intitutionalized, and i know this is a problem! he calls parchman "HOME". like as in "i just got off work, now i am home." he works in the library, so when he gets back and calls me, he sometimes says that.....not good at all. i always tell him. no that is not home..this is your home!! well i was just venting and thanks for reading this!

Girl I know the feeling. I have been trying to talk to someone at CMCF and at one point in time I thought I was on the merry go round of the phone system. I was literally on the phone listening to ringing for 20 minutes and each time someone would pick up they would tell me not the right department let me transfer you here. It is a rat race there and if only they would let you know something, I promise I would not continuously call them. Keep your chin up and if you need anything, you know how to get in touch with me.

So far, thank GOD, I havent had a problem with getting anyone on the phone, or doing anything I have asked. My fiance is in Unit 30 c...which I have found out to be a transit unit, 120 people in one unit, some have been waiting to move for over 7 months, I am working on it not happening to him, we are just waiting on a release from the doctor so he can get out of there! he came from Unit 29 e, which he called it his 2nd home..which i dont like him calling anything other than "HOME", home, he said he called it that because it was better than anywhere they had "thrown" him so far, but then he hated it, then they moved him to unit 30 c. now I am working on getting him to either CMCF or back to CMRCF where he was originally, we are hoping for CMCF, it is going to cost us 86 dollars to get him there, but he will be much closer and in the long run, with gas the way it is, 86 dollars is like 2 trips to Parchman, and if he goes to CMCF it will take about 15 trips to make 86 dollars. So I can take the 86 dollar loss for him to get moved!!

I'd like to know about that zone also. My brother was just moved there on "medical assignment". Hopefully he will get out of there soon!

Here is a link to previous posts about Unit 30. (the B just means what side of the building)

As for writing and canteen. They can write anytime. Now if he has to wait for writing supplies from canteen, that is different. A couple of times when Mr.H was transferred he had the good fortune to get to the new facility right after canteen orders were put in so he had to wait til the next order day and then wait for the delivery.

I know it's frustrating and worrisome but it really is likely something like that slowing it down.
