I was just wondering about the facilities rules about phone calls.Do they only have a certain day and time they can call? Do they know in advance?And what is this phone service I keep hearing about? I thought they just called you collect.

Crystal, Yes the inmate call you collect. The times vary by facility, but they can call 7 days a week..usually from early am to late pm..on your phone bill the collect calls will be from correctional billing services/t-netix (same company)..

Can someone please tell me anything about Holman? My brother was suppose to be sent to Draper or Staton. But they moved him to Holman instead. And I dont know anything about it, I haven't even heard anything about it. So any info you can give me would help alot. Is it a rough facility, is there alot of fights or what. I am going to have to say I am really clueless right now. Please help!!!!!

I don't know alot about Holman, someone will come around and fill you in on it. I just sent you a PM. I am sure that all facilities can be rough or have certain dorms that are rough.

I dont know a whole lot about it. My friend David has been locked up there for 6 years.He says that it is an awful place.There are alot of "lifers" there,and alot of death row inmates.

Hi Crystal. My brother is only there for 6 months (hopefully). They said he would be moved to Draper or Staton, but put him in Holman instead. Im sorry to hear that your friend has been there for that long. My thoughts and prayers are with yall.

just 6 months left period. at least thats what we are hoping for. they didn't even mention moving him to Holman. next thing I know my mother called and said they moved him to Holman.

i have no idea why they moved him there. but they said if they moved him it would be to Donaldson in west jefferson. and he was charged with burglary so i dont know why they would put him there. :confused

Donaldson is a level 6 facility (maximum security)...Holman houses alot of lifers. 6 months will fly by. Just tell him to keep to hisself and to stay out of trouble..

My Loved one is at Holman also... he is a "lifer"...
NO place is great.... but Holman.. sure is at the bottom of the list when it comes to Alabama prisons( my opinion anyways)

Mine has been to Kilby..Saint Clair.. Donaldson.. Holman..
Holman is also a Level 6.. Max security
If he ( your Brother) just has 6 months left...Wifey has given you good advise... just tell him to keep to himself... *so he'll stay out of trouble* congrats that he's gettin to come home...<sigh>

David is actually trying to appeal his case..He should know in the next few months if he is going to get a new trial or not..

thanks for the advice. but he was classified as a level 4, and i heard that was medium security not maximum, either way it all confuses me sometimes....lol. we are still waiting for him to call. he got to call twice the day they moved him, but thats the last we have heard from him. we called down there today and they said he was in general population now, but couldnt tell us when he could call. can you believe the woman at holman called us back to tell us when visitation is. that totally shocked us.
