Hello all. I am hoping you can help me. I recently found out that a friend of mine is at Lewis in Buckeye in Barchey (sp?) unit. I would like to pay him a visit, but I am not sure how to go about it. He sent me a letter a few months ago (we moved, letter was forwarded) and I just responded last week. Forgive me for sounding naive, but I am not even sure where to start. Can I just show up? Do I need to fill out any paperwork? Does he have to initiate the paperwork or do I? I'm totally clueless. I have been reading about dress codes, but really don't understand. I would be driving from Northern AZ and would hate to make the trip for nothing if I get turned away for my wardrobe. Any help you all could give would be greatly appreciated.

In order to visit, you have to be on the inmate's approved visitation list. The inmate needs to start this paperwork by sending you the visitation form. It takes about 3-6 weeks to get approved to visit.
The inmate is also suppose to send you the visitation rules but you can look up the same information at the ADOC website.

thanks Kim! I mentioned comng to see him in the letter I sent, so maybe he will include the form in his response. It is my nephew who is locked up. I haven't seen him in many years and he was always such a source of love and smiles for me. I just wanted to be able to tell him what a positive affect he has had on my life and thank him for being there for me a long time ago. It seems that fate has a way of turning the tables and now I feel like it is my turn to be there for him.
