HI EVERYONE, I AM IN DESPERATE NEED HERE . I HAVE A BROTHER WHO IS INCARRCERATED AND WILL GET OUT IN DECEMBER WAS THROWN FOR A LOOP TODAY. INS OFFICIALS ARE GOING TO BE MEETING WITH HIM I GUESS SOMETIME THIS WEEK. HE WAS NOT BORN IN THE UNITED STATES BUT HE DOES HAVE A GREEN CARD HE HAS LIVED HERE FOR 30 YEARS AND I THINK HE IS FACING POSSIBLE DEPORTATION UNDER THE IMMIGRATION LAW. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO ON THIS OR HAS GONE THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THIS PLEASE HELP ME AS I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HIM.

i havent been through the same thing, im sorry, but im a permanent resident as well and when i went in to get my green card ins officials told me to be careful because something as little as a DUI could have me deported so im guessing it's very possible.

I am sorry to hear about your brother. I also am going through with the same situaction with my husband. What did your brother do to go to prison? Have you contacted an immigration attorney yet? Be prepared it will be a hard thing to fight! Depending on your brothers criminal record will determine how good of a chance he has for getting a stay with immigration. But that is just my opinion from going through the same ordeal. I wish you the best of luck!! Let me know what happens.

hi and thankyou mercedes.

my brother is in jail for violating his probation. he was put on probation for grand larceny. plus he has beenin and out of trouble since he was a teenager for diffrent crimes involving breach of trust and petty larceny. i just wish i knew what to do or how to contact an immigration attorney. do you know if they are expensive.

also do you think he can get a pardon from the govenor or president i read somewhere that that could happen. i am desperate and will try anything as i am scared for him .
thanks.

start calling immigration lawyers .... they will give you a quick opinion and/or refer you to a good immigration lawyer. That's how I found an attorney I feel satified with. I found one here in California (for my husband)....I think he is expensive but he specializes in criminal immigration stuff so I think he is worth it.

He was referred to me by other immigration lawyers
People in his office may also be able to give referrals of good attorneys in your area

I don't know anything about a pardon, but you can call an immigration attorney and consult. I believe they can answer your questions and give u advice also they will let you know about their retainer fee. In my case an immigration attorney is very expensive but the cases vary! Your best bet would be to find a good immigration lawyer near you. Best luck and wishes for you & your brother........mercedes

Julie,

My thoughts are with you, your brother and your family... Did you guys ever try and get an immigration attorney? You could try a payment plan. The worst they can say is "no." ((hugs))
