My renewed passport arrived this morning... a biometric one. Inside the envelope with the passport was a leaflet about the 'new' biometric passports. Here's what part of it says:

Your biometric passport.
You have just received a new biometric passort, also known as the ePassport. Biometric passports can be identified by this sign on the front cover.

This sign shows there is an electronic chip inside the book.
We are introducing the new style of passport to help fight fraud and forgery. Your personal details and photo are printed on page 31. The back of that page also holds and elctronic chip and antenna.

My question is this... what is the 'antenna' for? Is it their way to track us? I can understand about having the chip for our information to be held on... but dang... and antenna???

Anyone the answer to my questions? What is everyones views on this new biometric passport?

This is really bothering me! Im not even sure why!!
