Good afternoon everyone:

My husband is "temporarily" at Rikers awaiting shipment back to Ulster then to Lakeview. In the meantime, I'd like to deposit some money for him to use at the commissary while he's there. I know you can bring money to Rikers or the Tombs, but can't find out what hours the cashier's desk opens (closes at 2 pm) I'm also wondering if it can be done at the Brooklyn House of Detention and if so the available times at that facility.

As always, any info is greatly appreciated.

It's been a little while since I've been to The Tombs to deposit money, but from what I remember the cashier is open in the morning, I want to say at about 8am. They don't close until the evening, though, about 7pm, because there were plenty of times that I went down there after work. I don't know what time the cashier is open at Rikers, though. You can try calling the inmate info number for the city, which is 718-546-0700 or 311 is also helpful with trying to locate numbers for The Tombs and Rikers.

Thank you.

I jsut got back from 125 White Street--it was really simple; there was no line!! (I had heard horror stories about lines around the block). In case anyone needs the info, the cashier opens from 7am-9pm M-F, 7 -2pm weekends (I think that's the horror story times). Anyway, cashier said anytime before 11 is ok, after that it gets bad.

Thanks again for your help.:)
