I'm new to this forum and I wasn't able to find an answer to this question in my searching so far, so please forgive if this is redundant.

My Significant Other and I will both be going to some NYS CF for a period of years. It's still early in the situation, so I have no idea how long. We're looking at maybe 10 years :(

If we get married before we go in, can we, both being inmates, have FRP ("trailer") visits?

Can we have any type of visits?

Can we be placed in the same CF?

Is there any benefit to getting married, in regards to our prison time?

Uhm, I'm assuming you're male and female, so the answer to trailer visits is NO, your answer to being in the same facility is NO. You will be able to write to each other, that's it. Benefits of getting married before you go in? I can't think of any.

some notification rights if he is transferred or something-that is all I can think of. I would think each of you would want to have your notifications and powers of attorney with someoned on the outside though. My opinion only.

And no to the FRP or any other visits and being in the same facility. as Office Friendly said.

OfficerFriendly--Please clarify--since when can residents of NY State CF's write to each other?? I always thought it was not allowed.

PB67 - relatives and co-defendents are authorized to correspond IF they get permission from the superintendents of both facilities.

Officer Friendly is correct my fiance and his brother both incarcerated write to each other with no problems, however permission is a must.

Its good to know that co-defendants can correspond with eachother as long as they get permission from the super. but how long does that take? and are we still classified as co-defendents after we're like sentenced and situated and starting to serve our time and stuff?
