View Full Version : where ya been
jimmyjam 08-19-2003, 03:33 PM people ask me ,"jimmy what did it take for you to change"? and when i look back .....it wasnt the pleas of my grandfather on his death bed...nor was it the brutal murder of my girlfriend.........to be honest "and i will" I think it was when that bus took that left turn and i was looking at that guard tower once again.......this would be my fourth trip back to prison.......I was back on the yard so quick that friends were asking me ,"where ya been"? i lied and told them i was in the hole.........I couldnt tell them i had been out AGAIN and messed up.....what i did diferently this time than the ones before was once i hit the yard i went to the right instead of the left...meaning....instead of the spades tables and the tonk tables and all those other games of amusement...iwent the other way i studied and when i was finished i studied some more...I kept my nose in a book....stayed away from people who couldnt benifit me.....stayed focused...got involed in self help programs......and once i was released i continued to do the same things i was doing while behind the fence....it has been almost two years now.....i work full time and attend school full time as well.....matter of fact im in school as i type....i wouldnt give this up for nothing in the world...im living proof for those who think there is no way out......if i can do it "AND IAM"anyone can...one day at a time......
peace and much respect,
jimmy

Gosh I loved to read this and I hope that you don't mind that I have moved it to this new Forum we have called "Coming Home From Prison - The Road Home".
To me it begged to be in the success stories sub forum because it sounds like a real success story! Congratulations on you current success and all the best wishes for continued success!
This forum was just recently opened because we have several members that are soon to bring a loved one home. We are hoping that they will contribute to this forum and that we can over time build a resource for all the men and women coming home that will help them to success!
I do hope that you will continue to contribute and share with us why and how you have succeeded!

Fed-X 08-22-2003, 07:41 PM Jimmy,
I think we took similar trips except I didn't go back as many times. Most of my times on the inside prior to actually doing time in prison were in county jails for revokations and such...
Good to have you here with us and glad to know you are blazing a new trail..
