Anyone have any clue what's going on at RCI. My hubby is there and I have not heard from him since Monday. This is really unusual being as he calls nearly everyday. I called RCI and the only thing they would tell me is that they are on lockdown since Monday evening. No visits this weekend at all. Good thing I didn't just make the hour and a half ride there like usual. Anyway, all the officer would tell me is that they are on lockdown because of an incident and that if I needed to check on my hubby I could try again tomorrow 8-3. Guessing it has to do with an inmate since its usually all over the news if it's a CO. I know my hubby told me a week ago that one of the other inmates stomped the crap out of his cellmate (really hurt the guy unrecognizable), so I am kinda hoping that this is related to that incident and not anything else.

I went up Friday, 10/27 and was told no visits until Monday as there had been a gang fight in the yard and they were on lockdown since Wednesday. No calls out, but mail in and out. Called today, 10/30 and was told no visiting and the guard said he hadn't been told why.

My son has only been there since 10/6. Can you tell me what kind of place it is...how to get along, etc. Thanks much

Finally got my call today. I was having serious withdrawals since we talk almost daily. He said that yes there was a gang fight....actually two incidents... the first being on Monday/Tuesday where they were put on partial lock down and then another on Wednesday where they went to full. He also said that since they are transferring alot of lifers there is it becoming more dangerous (i.e., these guys don't give a sh*t). He said one incident happened when they were going to lunch and two gang members rushed the guys cell and got locked in there with him until count time. This guy is pretty critical now since they stabbed him up pretty badly. He also said that they were told that each time something happens now...... they will extend the lockdown and it could be 30-60 days next time. This doesn't seem fair since that means no visits even for the guys behaving appropriately. Supposedly the second incident happened when they were on partial and the fact that these guys were able to pull that off during that time scared the crap out of the COs so that they are now taking no more chances and will just go to full for an extended length of time. I can't wait til he gets the hell out of there.

My husband has only been in RCI since February and I did feel pretty comfortable with him there but now since the inmates from Jessup are coming in I am definately scared for him. He said the same thing that next lock down will be 30 to 60 days. He also had said they moved people around he lost four friends in one day and they were replaced with inmates who do not really care about rules.

Does this facility MCI-H, go by another name. Please someone, anyone. I heard of a serious incident, (gang fight and stabbing) at a facitily in Maryland. I want to find out if this occurred at his facility before I start to worry.

MCI-H is not known under any other name. Recently RCI in Hagerstown was under lockdown for a week caused by gang fights and there was a stabbing. I just visited my son today and things are quiet for the time being. Unfortunately, this can happen and does happen in most facilities. We have to have faith.

FYI, my honey said there is a rumor that the gangs are planning another incident, but want to at least wait until they go to the store on Tuesday to stock up. Guess they figure if they are going to be locked down, they will at least have food and stuff. These assholes they moved from other places apparently are making a lot of trouble and don't really give a crap. Guess we can only hope that nobody innocent gets hurt and hopefully they don't screw up our visits for the holidays as well. I will never understand this code of conduct thing where if you hear something you keep it to yourself and not tell the COs. I am all for doing the right thing, but also don't want to see my honey get hurt for ratting someone out. I wish there was some way to punish the troublemakers without punishing the whole prison. Anyway, guess i am going to try to get my visit in before Tuesday, just in case the rumor holds true. May God bless our guys and keep them safe.

Another lock down occuered at MCTC...my baby is there and when i visited him on saturday he said that only one of the housing units 3B was on lock down because the bloods and the krips were fighting....there Maryland jails are out of control...they are safer out here than they are in the jails
