View Full Version : I'm still dealing with my husband's death
Hi there
This a great idea. I haven't been on the forum for a bit. I am still dealing with my husband's death. Some days have been very lonley and empty. I just want to do anything. This is kind of nice to maybe talk about this big change in my life. My son is doing good. He got transferred to Pittsburgh Inst. He needs to take the court appointed courses and they have them there. He quite likes it there. Look forward to chatting.
I missed a word in my message. I was supposed to say, I don't want to do anything. Typo there. Sorry
plow- I am really happy that you posted as I have been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing.
You need time- it's normal not to want to do anything when you're grieving and everyone deals with it in different ways.
I am so glad your son is still doing well. I don't know anything about Pittsburgh Inst.- don't know where it is. When you feel up to it maybe you can post some information in the Canada Prison Profiles.
Keep coming here and checking in with us- it will really help just talking about things. Take care of yourself and make sure you get enough rest.
butterfly16 10-24-2006, 06:48 PM Hey Plow,
I only know that Pittsburgh is right beside Joyceville and it looks like townhouses and it's minimum security.
Take care, Lin
mrsdragoness 10-29-2006, 05:53 AM Hi Plow!! Sorry I missed this as earlier! I can only imagine how hard it would be to lose a spouse. I've lost my parents but its not the same. Keep your head up! STAY BUSY but at the same time, don't push away the happy memories you have.

Hi Everyone
I am feeling better now. It is 8 wks today since my husband's death. I am starting feel like myself again. Time is a healer. My son is really liking where he is. Pittsburgh is next to Joyceville. It has the programs he is supposed to take (court appointed). It is like a dorm effect. Five guys to a townhouse. They buy their own food and do their own cooking. For Thanksgiving weekend the guys in his house pooled their money together and cooked a turkey dinner. It gives them a little more sense of being home. His time is going fast.He may be out in May or June or just stay until Aug. He is not sure what is going to happen. He still has a ways to go. He is calmer and content of where he is. He is very lucky to be in a minimum security institution. I like this new chat section.
I am staying busy, thats for sure, job hunting again (it was put on hold due to my husband's death), painting, covering garden for winter, household stuff. There is always something to do. Walk the dog also.
HOPE4FUTURE 10-29-2006, 09:43 AM Wow, I wish my man could be in that kind of setting. Sorry about your husband but it sounds like you have a positive attitude for the future and I hope things only get better for you and your son. God bless!
razzle 10-29-2006, 09:50 AM Hi Plow.
I am sorry to hear about your husband, but I'm glad to hear that you are keeping busy. I sure hope you are doing OK. Please come to us if you need to talk.
Hi Everyone
Thanks for the condolences. It is much appreciated. I have an enormous amount of painting to do. When you live in an older house and take wallpaper off the walls, you end up with surprises. This job was started in June and then it got too hot to do anything, and then of course my husband passed away. Now I am attempting to tackle this job. What a mess. I think it will be at least until Monday before I finish this room. Then next is my tv room, and then dining room. I like challenges. It is good to be busy. I wlll probably visit my son this month sometime, and then in December for the reintegration meeting with his wife and 2 sons, myself and of course Chris. This is all part of his parol and family reintegration back into society when he gets out. I hope it goes well. Talk later.
plow- I too started to do what you started to do in June but never got very far. I first have to move the furniture out of my small rooms before I can get in there to paint and I have no motivation now. I have 2 rooms to do- maybe you'll inspire me!
Let us know if you get to visit your son again.
Hi There
Well it looks like it will be a bit longer until the painting job is done. I ran into more trouble when I put on the prime. I was told the old paint must have been oil based because the latex prime I used bubbled. I was so ticked. Now I have to sand the bubbles and fill them in and then use oil based prime. What a mess. I left it for a few days to do outside chores. Well Christmas is fast arriving. I can't believe the year has almost ended.Where did the time go??
hooddiva 11-11-2006, 04:57 PM I am so sorry to hear about this.you have alot of support here
nimuay 11-11-2006, 05:49 PM Hey there, Plow. Glad to see that going forward is happening for you. I am in a similar mess - got the kitchen half-stripped of old paint, started patching and sanding, then got a set of muscle spasm that were so severe that 3 months later I am just recovering, with the help of chiropractor, massagist, acupuncture, steriods and pain-killers. So there are lumps of spackle and gaping spots of no-paint mixed with areas of old, dirty paint. I keep looking at it and thinking I'll get it finished, but I'm so far behind on everything else too . . . waaaaaahhhhh!
plow and nimuay- Well you both sound like you have really professional standards! I've had paint bubble too:( but that's one of the benefits of having aging eyesight-everything looks just fine after I paint no matter how bad a job I've done:p ;) ! I am still in the middle of moving furniture and I just can not get motivated.
nimuay- I am sorry to hear you've been in so much pain. Did the acupuncture help at all and have you tried accupressure?
Hi nimuay
Glad to hear someone else has a few problems with decorating. Well I finished one room. Yahoo!!!!! If I must say so myself, it looks really good. It took long enough. Now on to the large room. I decided to cover the bad spots, which are about 85% of the walls, with tectured paintable wallpaper. It will look nice and it is in, and it will hide all of the defects. That is my solution to covering the mess. I should have it all done in a couple of weeks. I am starting a course so it will take me a bit longer to finish the room.
