Hi Everyone,
I was planning on visiting my guy on death row in November at Holman CF. Everything was planned and organised and after some valuable advice from michelwiff1(thank you michelle:D ) I wrote to my guy telling him to check out how long it would take him to change his list. Well our letters must have crossed each other or him being a typical male thought he knew best LOL but he isnt changing his list till Oct 27th. This will give his other friends one last chance to visit before he takes them off his list( he can only change his list every 6months).
So I checked with Brian Corbett from the ADOC and sure enough if he does it that way then it will take 4-6 weeks for me to get approved and on his list. As I am supposed to be visiting on the 17th Nov then its now obvious that I wont be on the list in time. I am sooooooooooo disapointed I have written to him but time is against us as my letters take 5 days to reach him.
I did even phone the prison and spoke to Grant Culliver but he just told me that it could take 2-6weeks and that I shouldnt make any travel arrangements until my guy has notified me that I am on his list.
I know that nobody is really to blame over this but I wish the prison had informed him as to how long it would take. I dont think he has changed his list in years so may be going on old guidelines. He did say that the prison newsletter had told them that changes to lists were taking longer but they obviously didnt specify how long.
Of course I can still go in the new year but I was so excited about seeing him and spending some time with him.
Anyway just a general moan. Thanks for listening

Sorry to hear you didnt get to see your guy. I know the weeks seem like they take forever when you are waiting to see the one you love. hang in there and just keep looking forward to seeing the smile on his face when he does get to see you.

I'm sorry your plans aren't working out, but, he *may* be able to put a rush on it so you'll be approved sooner.

At any rate, I'm hoping you get to have a WONDERFUL visit soon!!

Hang in there!!

I'm so sorry, Lisa. Most ADOC facilities it's 1-2 weeks, but I'm sure they probably do things a little different at Holman due to security. I hope things work out for you soon...

Sorry about the disappointment, Lisa, but what the person told you is true - don't think about making travel plans until you have your approval in writing! And in the prison system, things move very slow. It took me many long weeks to get approval, mostly because the Case Manager 'lost' my application under a heap of other papers! I still might not be approved but I called there several times and finally spoke with the head of that department, who approved my application. I hope your application gets approved in a reasonable amount of time and that you can visit soon.

Lisa, PLEASE dont give up hope just yet. Go ahead with your scheduling with the understanding that you might have to cancel at the last minute. Sometimes at Holman, they can be really slow but normally they are not. When DJ sends his lists in he usually has it back in two to five DAYS. So dont give up yet. God Bless you and I will be praying for you.

Lisa get your friend to check into asking for a special visit with the warden since you will be coming from out of town. I know my husband is at Staton and the warden there has been very nice about giving the guys there all day visits with their family/friends that are coming in from out of state.

Good Luck!
