anyone else getting to email their friends &/or loved ones at Carswell?
I was amazed when I got the call! Now I can touch base everyday!
It's so cool, I can't believe it! :p

Thank you so much for the information. I'm not there yet, but hopefully this will apply to me as well once I'm there. My daughter isn't much of a writer (like on pen and paper) but email is a whole other ballgame!

I understand it costs about five cents a minute to be on the emailing. Is this true and if so do you pay for it out of your fund or what?

I have been receiving email for a couple of months from my Wife. Now in the last 5 days, her email comes through but she is not getting my replies. I have sent dozens but she is not getting them. :(

It does cost .05 cents per minute and if I understand correctly it comes out of your phone account.
Hope that helps you out some.

I have gotten so spoiled to email that I have slowed down my letter writing. Because by the time she gets the letter the news is a week old!

It seems like e-mail is a good option and much cheaper than phone calls. Does anyone know if those sites that sell local phone numbers really work and save you money when calling FMC Carswell?

Okay, yes, local numbers are a lot cheaper than long distance. I think a 15 minute local call is under a dollar for the inmate. Money for e-mail comes from their regular fund account. When they log on to e-mail they are able to buy minutes.
