#2 VISITATION DAY PROTOCOL: Upon arrival at the insitution, visitors shall be processed in the following manner:
1. Visitors will register at the visitation center with approved photographic identification. Approved photographic identification is defined as valid Federal or State issued identification card containing a photo of the owner (i.e.State Drivers License, State or Federal card, Military ID).
2. Sign the Visitor's sign in log.
3. Submit to a search of their person by pat search and electronic scan.
4. Submit to a search of any and all items in their possession that are allowed to be carried into the Institution.
5. Visitors who are not on an offenderf's approved visiting list shall not be granted admission to the Institution.
6. Inquiries concerning clarification, explanation, errors in visiting lists will be directed by the visitor to the Institution between the hours of 0700 hours to 1500 hours Monday through Friday.
7. Vixitors who are admitted to the institution shall proceed directly to the visiting center.
8. Visitors shall not be permitted to leave designated visiting area. When a visitor leaves the designated visiting area for any reason, the visit shall be terminated.
9. Upon conclusion of visitation hours, visitors will not be permitted to leave the institution with any items or property in their possession that was not in their possession upon entering the Institution except Offender's property coming through the Property Office.
10. Offenders and visitors are prohibited from giving, trading, selling or receiving anything to or from each other.
11. If the visiting room becomes overcrowded then the first visitors to register will be asked to exit.
12. Communication between offenders and visitors is prohibited ater the visitor's departure from the visiting area.
13. Children are the responsibility of the parent visitor and the offender must be supervised at all times.
14. Children will not be allowed to disturb others. Failure to supervise children may result in termination of the visit. Absolutely no toys shall be brought into the Institution.
15. Smoking is not permitted.
16. The dress code will be strictly enforced for offenders and visitors at all times.
17. Visitors are expected to converse normally. Loud talking, arguing, loud laughing, yelling and so forth will result in termination of the visit.
18. Combing of hair within the visitation area is prohibited.
19. Visitors may leave the visitation area at any time. Once a visitor leaves the visiting area for any reason, he/she may not return that day.
20. Visitors may not be permitted to be on more than one offender's visitation list at a time, except when a relative has more than one immediate family member incarcerated at the same time.
21. Any visitor or offender who becomes disruptive or disrespectful to a staff member will be reports and the visit terminated immediately.
22. Offenders and visitors must keep the area clean (i.e. all cans, paper, and other trash will be placed in the trash containers).
23. During an emergency or disturbance all visitors will be asked to leave immediately.
24. Fourteen (14) years of age and older will present identification (i.e. driver's license, state ID, student ID).
25 Tongue, naval and nose rings or other body piercing is prohibited.
AFFECTIONATE BEHAVIOR: Affectionate behavior is accepted and expected; however, visitors and offenders are expected to demonstrate appropriate affectional behavior at all times. The following will not be tolerated: sexual activity, prolonged body kissing or body embracing, lip kissing except for beginning and end of visit, sitting in such a manner so as to expose to view areas of the body considered sexual, no sitting on each other lap (does not apply to children under the age of 12 years).
CONJUGAL VISITATION - AREA 1 ONLY: Conjugal visitation shall be permitted for married offenders only. Offenders must be A or B custody. An offender shall have no findings of guilt for Rule Violation Report for six months to be eligible for a conjugal visit. Proof of Marriage shall be required for all conjugal visits. The spouse shall be on the approved visitation list of the offender. Children can not be left unsupervised in the visitation center during conjugal visit.
VISITATION CRITERIA: Offenders will be limited to a total of ten (10) persons, not including children under the age of 14 on their list at any one time. Offenders may be permitted to make changes on their list two times per years, (every 6 months from entry date at MSOC Reception Center). A maximum of six visitors will be admitted, including children, per visitation day, with RID Unit allowing three per visitation due to limited space. General population visitation at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution will be between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on the offender's scheduled visitation day. Lockdown visitation will be between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
VISITATION BY SECURITY LEVEL: Offenders who are housed in mamimum security (C custody) facilities will be restricted to non-contact visitation. Those offenders serving disciplinary isolation will not be allowed to visit. D custody offenders can have one (1) hour non-contact visit each quarter of a year with any approved visitor on list. By appointment (Contact Visitation Officer).
MEDIUM (B CUSTODY) OFFENDERS:Medium security offenders may be permitted contact visits. Offenders on medium custody will be pat searched pre visit and stripped searched post visit. A visitor will not be permitted to leave the Visitation Area until the search of the offender is completed. Medium security offenders are permitted a maximum of five hours each visit two times each month with approved visitors on their list.
MINIMUM (A CUSTODY) OFFENDERS: Minimum security offenders may be permitted contact visits. Offenders on mini mum cusotdy will be pat searched pre and stripped searched post visit. Visitors will be not permitted to leave the Visitation Area until the strip search of the offender is completed. Minimum security offenders are permitted a maximum of five hours of contact visitation each visit, four times each month, with approved visitors on their visitation list.
