Personally, I blame Nessy!! :D

VIENNA, Austria - A kangaroo was sighted on a highway in western Austria, but disappeared again, police said Thursday. The marsupial, which escaped from an enclosure in the village of Volders about two weeks ago, was seen by several people on a highway in Tyrol province, a statement said.

Thursday's sighting was not the alpine country's first kangaroo-related incident.
In March, a kangaroo led police in southern Austria on a snow chase after it jumped a fence of its cage.

Hey Rach,

They are all over the highways here!! :)

The city that I used to live in had roo's jumping down the streets all the time. We had a roo hop down our street leisurely, and I couldn't believe my eyes!! Oh yeah and I will accept blame for this one!! LOL

The bit that cracks me up is the part about the roo taking the police on a snow chase!! :)

Around the turn of the 20th century, someone got the bright idea that the U.S. Army should train in the use of camels as cavalry animals, believing that they would serve better in desert areas than mules or horses. Some camels were actually imported and one unit began training in the Southwest. It proved to be a failed experiment after most of the camels escaped.

For years thereafter they roamed the Southwestern U.S., eventually dying out and becoming a forgotten footnote in history.

Correction to the above: the U.S. Camel Corps was actually founded in 1855, and dissolved just before the beginning of the Civil War

However, camel sightings continued until 1941, including one known as "The Red Ghost" which apparently had a dead man tied to its back....a mystery which was never solved.
