I get off supervised release Oct. 12, 2007!

I would like to apply for early release.

A couple questions:

I was sentenced in one district, but transfered to another on my release from custody.

Do I have to petition a judge in my sentencing district, or the current district I reside in?

I can't help you, but congratulations on making it this far! Best wishes to you!

Talk to your probation officer first. Tell them you would like to get off, and if they are Ok with it. If they are, they can file the form for you with the judge who sentenced you. If the AUSA does not object, then the judge rubber stamps it and you're off. It takes a couple of months though (of course nothing the Govt does is fast).

I got a lawyer involved with mine, and now it's been dragging on for 6 months. By the time my lawyer is done and gets me off, I'll be off anyhow. Sheesh..

good advice from Bronc, also check out KrisFedinCali posts, he wrote a lot about how to present info in an organized way that helpd you get off early. Seems if you don't owe money to gov, it almost always goes through first time out.

You will have to deal with the district you were sentenced in, from what my PO told me.
