Hello all! The holidays are coming up and I want to ask about holiday visiting (Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year) in MCSP since my husband just barely got there and we just had our 1st visit last Saturday. I have an 18-month old to take into consideration so I wanna know how the line is...Do people camp outside to start the line? Does the hall get full and terminate visits or turn away people in line (we come from L.A. so that would hurt!). Also, has anyone stayed at the Days Inn in Sutter Creek? or the Ione Hotel? Any comments will be appreciated to help me with my planning. Thanks guys...

On my first visit I got there early thinking there was going to be a long line of people waiting as that is what I was accustomed to at other places. At Salinas Valley people would start the car line the night before:eek: . Anyhow when I got there around 7:30am there was only like 3 people there waiting. So what I am trying to say is no people do not camp outside. Visits do get terminated if the visiting room gets too crowded (which is all the time) but because you come from so far (250 miles or more) and if you only come every 30 days your visit will not be terminated. So you are in luck!! I stayed once at a place called the Loma Linda. That place was nice

I believe there is a Holiday Inn in Jackson that is reasonable and only about 15 minutes away from the prison.
Thanksgiving visiting:
Thursday - 8:30 am -3 pm
Friday - 12:30 pm - 7 pm
Saturday - 8:30 am - 3 pm
Sunday - 8:30 am - 3 pm
*Thanksgiving is super busy in the morning, so if you try to come in around 10 am it is much better and you should be able to stay the full day. We don't line up outside the prison grounds, but we do line up about an hour before hand in the parking lot (so around 7:30). We are only allowed to be on the ground an hour before hand, although some people cheat on that.
Christmas Visiting:
Friday - 12:30 pm - 7 pm
Saturday - 8:30 am - 3 pm
Sunday - 8:30 am - 3 pm
Monday - 8:30 am - 3 pm
*I've never visited early on Christmas, but the afternoon are okay.
Of course unless you over 250 miles and haven't visited within 30 days, it's a first in, first out system. I don't know how terminations work on holidays, but I think it's like normal. If you visit every 30 days and are over 250 miles you are a non-termination for the weekend and can not be terminated...I do not know if that hold true for holidays as well, but I think it does...but do not quote me on that. Make sure it's over 30 days though...29 does not count. I've seen them terminate people where it's only been 29 days in between their visits.

if you travel more than 250 miles your visit will not be terminated. you will get your entire visit with your loved one for two days, either fri/sat or sat/sun. your third visit your getting a chance of getting it terminated.good luck :)
