Do The Inmates Get Mail 6 Days A Week, Or Just M-fri? Curlyhead:)

You know curlyhead I never even thought of that one. Now I am curious too. I'm sure someone will help us out. If it's only 5 days then maybe that would account for why the mail is sometimes sooooooo slow !!

In Florida it's only M-F that they receive. No weekends.

You are welcome. I am not sure how Federal Prisons operate with mail - but that is the standard for State prisons. :)

Yep, Monday -Friday. Just an FYI for curly, if you were going to send him money via western union, make sure it is received at least the day before commissary. They don't post anything til after 4pm. So if you were to wait til the morning of, it will be useless to him on that commissary day. When I think of these small things I like to add them for the newby's. At my hub's facility, they now allow us to send books and magazines directly, due to the fact that when they were sent from the stores, they would take forever. So, have your son check and see if his facility is now allowing this also. It really speeds things up for them.

only m-f because the mailroom staff (that checks all incoming mail) only works mon-friday 730 to 430
on weekends and fed. holidays no mail will be given out....and if it is a holiday that by chance falls during the week which may call for a 4 day weekend, then no mail will be given out during those days either

Remember, YOU wont receive mail on Mondays (or another specific day of the week depending on how long the mail takes between you and him) because the same as they dont receive mail on Saturdays- mail also doesnt get sent OUT on Saturdays.

They can send out mon-fri.As to the receiving, the only days that I know for certain that they don't get mail is the weekend.
