My Mother in Law died today. Dh had just walked in to the yard from being dropped off from being at work and the Cheif told him that he needs to call him up in a minute because he needs to talk to him.
So DH rang me and while he was on the phone to me he was called up. 5 mintues later he rang back and said, Im leaving in about 10 minutes and I have got a 7hr release. His sister was on her way to pick him up. So he got 5pm till Midnight. The Cheif left it for his sister to tell him when she got there, so he is now in at the hospital seeing his mum for the last time. :( I have just had to tell my 3 year old. That was so hard. I just wish they would let him out now for good. Its so unfair.

Deepest sympathies. It can't be easy. The one thing I'd be glad for is that he was able to see her a while back, and at least they're "humane" enough to let him go for 7 hours. Every little bit helps, I guess.

Thanks guys. Just got off the phone to him. He is doing ok. But they have only just sent a DR around to tell them why she died. That was 5hrs ago.
So they have been sitting with her all that time. It was wonderful of them to let him have 7hrs with her.

Kellz I'm so sorry to hear this news. I'm glad he got to spend that time with her the other week.

It sounds like the prison is being very kind to his situation which is fantastic.

Thankyou everyone. Its going to take time for it to seem real, but at least we know that she is no longer in pain.

We had the funeral on Friday. DH was let out of 6 hrs. Which was great. It was really hard for him. One bad thing was it was an open casket. I do believe it should never have been open, since it was 10 days after she died.
We were given a double visit this weekend, which was wonderful. So we had 3 days of 6hrs each day. I am sure he was sick of us when we left :D
Its not long to go now. which is great. On Friday he was sent Early Release forms, and in the letter from the Parole board they said they recieved his letter requesting early release and if he gets it back to them this week they will review it all on Friday. We went through some points for him to write down and I had to take it over to one of the guards to they could go through, so he was allowed to take it back with him. The guard read it and told me a few other things for us to mention, which was wonderful. They have been sooooo good over the last month. It was our last visit untill he comes home. It cost us $500 to go down, and I cant afford it anymore, so we will just hang out till he gets home :)

I am really hoping that DH gets the early release. That would be excellent. Everything that I can cross, is crossed!! :)
I am glad to hear that DH got to attend her funeral. And that you were to spend some time with him.
