I just would like some info on early release programs in NY. My husband is currently on Rikers Island and he will be sentenced before this year is over. I know that he would be eligable for programs because he has no violent offenses. I don't know exactly what programs there are. I want something that will reduce his time. I looked at hock already but there has to be other things.:confused: :confused:

when he is shipped upstate, the couselors will inform him of prgrams he is eleigible; it is WISE to accept whatever they reccommend because if he doesnt and goes to the parole they will ask him why he didn't take the prgrams and may send him back to complete them, if it is a drug charge there are various programs, which sometimes run very long and if he has a short bid its not worth it, how long is his bid? asat runs 6-8 months and there is a waiting list, so iy might be wise to enroll in other things while you wait and earn merit points.....hope this helps pm with anything else......

Mamalove was right - we don't really know much to be able to give you help. ASAT and CASAT are always full and Anger Management doesn't have empty seats either. As to getting out before his max, there are furloughs, work release and parole.
