Just wanted to get the first thread in...and welcome all to the new area of PTO! Don't be shy now... :p

It may be easier when posting if you specify what level in your thread title you are posting about since this is a shared forum for all levels at the Terre Haute grounds. USP, FCI, FPC.

Abbey here, checking in. So this is the new place to meet? Anyone know why I'm not getting phone calls this week? He called last week and said he was out of money (which is usually just a hint for more) but he always manages a phone call, at least to ask for money, so this is unusual. He's in the medical unit, so that's a worry, too -- never know.

Well glad to find all of you again. I know I don't log on daily, have a lot going on here, but nice to knoq you are all there.

Abbey

Abbey...we really haven't got back in the groove! Don't feel lost, we are all, somewhat! :p

I've had calls this past week...last one was Friday night and I am expecting another later on. Could it be possible that he is out of minutes for the month? Considering it's only 2 days left...lots of times some folks run out of minutes. Just a thought.

Glad to see you made it down to the TH corner! We'll find our groove again, promise!

Good question! There must be a few of us with loved ones in Terre Haute, it's not a small place. Hopefully this will jump-start this thread again.

If you need to know anything, I will try to help and if you all could help with any concerns I may have that would be great. Well I can tell you this.... it took my fiance about 1 week to call me. If he is new to the Federal Prison System it may take longer. The inmates normally have to establish a phone list and that could take one to two weeks. Ny my fiance being a transfer he had a list and he was able to call sooner. Hang in there he will call soon.

I've recently dropped my finance off to FCI Terre Haute. It was so nerve racking because we are from MO. But once we pulled up it was so simple. We walked inside together and said our goodbyes. He stated his name and they explained to him it would be a few minutes and they would get him going. I think he was very nervous. But after about a week, he called me and explained that it wasn't as bad as he orginally thought. Once he went to the store and settled in he found himself a good healthy routine. I also believe he has started going to church. He wants to keep himself busy and stay focused. I think with the power of prayer...anythign is possible. Is there anything in particular you had a question on. I can ask him. We are both new to all of this so we need all the help we can get too. GOd Bless you!!!

I am suppose to report to the Satilite Camp so i am sure that it is not as bad I hope. Any help will be much appreciated.

If you have to be locked up somewhere, its my opinion that Terre Haute FPC is not a bad place. The guards are civil and my husband is working and as happy as one can be in prison. Keep positive and it will pass quickly!

Hi everyone! My man is in USP Terre Haute, serving a life sentance. I try to be as supportive to him as I can and this forum is a dream come true. It is real nice to be able to know that there is a support system going on for those of us who have loved ones in Terre Haute. It just makes me feel special.:p

HI all! My Fiance is in the USP at Terre Haute doing 20, I wish i had known this existed before however I am so happy to have found it. I am very new to the whole prison thing and many days I find it terribly difficult to get past all the unknowns. He doesnt like to tell me lots of things as he doesnt want me to worry, which of course I do. Just wanted to say Hi to everyone and that I am glad there is a place such as this to communicate with others experiencing the same things.

Well we just got the sad news, my husband is being transferred here. This is a big blow to everyone, we are all on the west coast. He is in year 9 of 14, spent the first seven in New Jersey and we have been lucky enough to have him on the west coast for two years, but I guess that is all we get. From what I have read on the BOP site, visiting there is going to not be anything like we are used to. But myself and our daughter will be the only ones visiting now anyway, no one in his family will fly.. they are in California and I am in Arizona. I will come in once a month. He is going from Low to Medium, why? Who knows and will be at the FCI also he is ICE detainee, so we REALLY dont know why he is coming here. We are all pretty devasted (not the first time and wont be the last).. so any info anyone can give me.. I would greatly appreciated.. I am so depressed today, I can hardly function (also not the first or last time I am sure)

Can't imagine the reasoning behind their decision where to place someone. My guy is at Terre Haute USP on a 60 month sentence. Probably one of the shortest times there, and had a flawless record of incarceration prior to that. Not any more, hard to survive in a place like that without getting in some type of altercation. Never get over the heartbreak, tho. Just hope he makes it out. Really feel for you guys with long sentences, and I do mean that. We may not be in danger like they are but in a way we're doing the time too.

All:

Does anyone know the status of the Lock Down at Terre Haute.... I saw an email that the whole prison, camp, and correctional institution was on lock down because of a virus going around. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks

I'm new to this forum...not to PTO though. My friend is at USP Terre Haute. He wants me to come for a visit (I've been on his visiting list for a long time now w/o ever making the trip). I guess I should just cave and go to see him. So I'm wondering (I know this is has been explained many times before somewhere in this forum) exactly how the visits go down. My question is basically how long are the visits and also he said I could sleep over and have a visit the next day as well. Is that right? Other prisons don't allow back to back visits so I'm just checking. I guess I have one more question...once I get there is it easy to find the visiting area? Is there a chance that it could be too busy and therefore I'd not be able to see him? Is it true that the inmates are required to grab the visitors butt and squeeze (kidding). I can't get any straight answers from him...I'll ask him how it all goes down and he'll say "well after the body cavity search it should only be about 20 more minutes before they'll let you put your clothes back on"...so as you can see, some straight answers would calm my nerves a tad. Thanks in advance!
