Does any know if i were to call the prison would they give a message to an inmate. I sent my friend a few bucks and wanted him to know, will they pass a message along telling him to check?

They won't do it. You need to send him a letter telling him. It probably makes sense to send the letter the same day you send the money, so he'll know its there and where it came from.
