View Full Version : NYS Prisons blackout
roc city girl 08-15-2003, 06:34 AM All NYS prisons were blacked out. Thank goodness for generators hugh?? Was anyone able to get in touch with thier loved one?? I didn't hear from Tito. But then again i was online most the night. Rochester looked spooky as heck, 1/2 of the city was out. I was one of the fortunate ones with power, and my good ole internet.:D
I am pist off that my trip to NYC was cancelled for school shopping though. Dont you just hate when things cant go your way??? :fb::angry:
DaGStringBandit 08-15-2003, 09:01 AM roc city girl,
it sux your trip got cancelled, I'm sorry to hear that. As you know i am also in rochester and it sure did look spooky! my power went out around 4pm yesterday, but when i woke up in the middle of the night all my bedroom lights were on. we're lucky though, because i guess theres still a lot of people without power. that sux! i was so mad yesterday because i was packing for school and had laundry in when the power went out. anyways, i'm just glad the power is back on. ~Gina
toi_ama 08-15-2003, 11:25 AM I'll bet you're glad it wasn't terrorism or that terrorists didn't take that opportunity, huh?

Gina, yeah thank God everything is back to normal
lisac117 08-18-2003, 09:04 AM Roc,

underpants 08-18-2003, 09:09 AM i am so nervous that when i fly to attica to see my friend, that there will be a lockdown or something and i won't be able to get my visits in.... that would suck if that happens because i'm coming from so far away and it isn't like something i can do every weekend.
did anyone REALLY think that the black out was beacuse of terrorists? don't worry guys and gals, the majority of stuff on the news in the US is there to SCARE us into thinking things are awful because of terrorism.
boy oh boy, i sure am glad that war on terrorism is over, and that america won, because now we'll NEVER have to worry about terrorists again!!!!!!!!! that was sarcasm. sorry, couldn't help myself.
roc city girl 08-18-2003, 09:57 AM well i wouldnt be singing glory just yet. I think the worst is yet to come and personally i am scared poo-poo less. But UNDERPANTS dont worrry there shouldnt be a reason for a lock down in Attica unless there was a major fight or something
ThePriSONerSWyF 08-19-2003, 12:02 AM Wouldnt it have been nice to wake up next to our husbands because of the black out? To get a knock on the door in the middle of the night and have it be...him
Lisa2710 08-19-2003, 07:40 AM That would be perfect. Too bad they could'nt all get the heck out of Dodge!!!!
I got a call from my baby on Friday. All the phones were out and they were all on lock-down at Shawangunk.
Everything is fine now. I hope everyone elses loved ones are good!!!
Love to All!
trescheek 08-19-2003, 10:18 AM I visited Oneida on Sat. w/no problems. On Thurs. nite I thought for sure I wasn't going to hear from him but I did. He said the lights did go out but they were using a generator.
Ivory 08-19-2003, 08:40 PM I'm in NYC...and you'd be surprised how many people initially thought the blackout was terrorism. I guess after 9-11, we are all a little edgy!
lisac117 08-20-2003, 01:39 PM I'm with Ivory and Roc - Ivory, I'm in the Bronx and i swear I kept saying "I'm having flashbacks of 9/11". I didn't really think it was terrorists, but....like you said, we were all a little edgy, especially down here. Roc - I too feel the WORST is YET TO COME! Underpants---who said the war on terrorism is over? Honey, if that was the case....our guys and gals in green would be HOME!!! Unfortunatley, I think the war on terrorism is like the war on drugs....something we'll probably NEVER win. Prisonerswyfe - who you telling? Man! I had 2 candles lit in my livingroom and I just kept saying "GOD I WISH SHAH WAS HERE" instead of having to sleep with my kids. :)

Ivory 08-20-2003, 03:53 PM I agree with you, Lisa...the worst is yet to come! And, we certainly are not prepared for it. In a city as big as NY with so many people, there is no way to EVER prepare! 9-11 was a wake up call, BUT, in some ways, nothing has really changed!
underpants 08-21-2003, 04:51 PM lisac117 -- i was totally Joking when i said "gee, aren't you glad the war on terrorism is over?" -- i had seen that in a really funny political cartoon and kinda worked it into my post.
i hope everyone is doing well in NY. when you guys say the worst is yet to come... what do you think is going to happen? i always make myself nervous if i think about it too much... but i was just wonderin what everyone thinks. i was suprised that when gulf war 2 started, that there wasn't any attacks or suicide bombings in the US, you know? yikes. its scary to think that something big may happen in the future to the US.... i try to not live in fear though!
love

!!!!!!!!!!!
Ivory 08-21-2003, 07:19 PM Those of us who live in NYC know that anything can happen! We experienced it firsthand. I try not to live in fear either, but I don't believe we are safe from terrorism.
UniqNegra 08-25-2003, 01:36 PM Hi, I guess if we live in NYC. We are alrady expecting things to happen. I was on my way home when the black out occured. I didn't think it was terrorism. Actually I thought it was only my house. Then I heard it was all over, but I didn't think it was terrorism then, I though that something went wrong in the City.
roc city girl 08-25-2003, 03:33 PM Ivory, i must agree with you girl. I don't believe we are safe from terrorism. Those people are like geniuses, they are waiting for us all to fall back so they can hit us even harder.
