I was told today that they were changing the phone system in Federal Prisons and the inmates could not put money on the phones until one day next week, so if our love ones call they have to call collect. Have anyone else heard this?

what specific facility are you referring to?

My husband called me last night from Beaumont Low. He said the computers were down & he couldn't add any new money to the account...he too had to call collect. He didn't say anything about the phone systems changing, though.

My husband just put some more money on his phone account earlier this week. He was told he wouldn't be able to put money on his account this weekend. It just sounded like they were working on the phone system and you would be able to put money on the account next week.

My husbnd had emailed me for the first time last wednesday, he was so excited to get my reply and email again. He said it would be up to 3 hours or more before I receive one back. As of today still nothing. So I'm wondering if the phones/computer systems are down as a whole. He is at Terminal Island, Ca.

I got a call from my husband in Seagoville about 5:50pm Pacific Time and he didn't say anything at all about anything and it wasn't collect.

tkeefover,I noticed you mentioned about the emails..I am awaiting to get the first email from the prison,and wondered how long it usually took from him submitting my addy to actually getting a message?:thumbsup: If anyone else has any idea plz let me know-I'm starting to think I'll be waiting for ever!!:rolleyes:

kern, I just received a phone call today from hubby. He said that he was so excited to see an email from me that he entered the wrong code in three times and was locked out of the system..LOL He has since had this corrected and sent me two emails on Friday..I have yet to receive either one. When he finds out why I will let you know. But he was told that normally it takes one to three hours from the time he sends one for me to get it. And vice versa.

tkeefover,thank-you for letting me know.He would have got my email address a week ago and still nothing.I suppose it takes the same sort of time to get on their contact list as the phone list.
I'm probably being impatient because I can't wait to get that message!:D

each facility is going thru a phone system change one by one....when my mans facility did he couldn't even call collect for a week the phones were completely down but the good thing about it was he got a whole new 300 minutes halfway thru the month!

I'm so excited for those of you that can e-mail your men!!! That's great...I'd take a 3 hour delay over a week to get a letter!!!

Csmcgrl23, Yep, my husband last June I think it was, at his facility changed something with the phones and his 300 minutes started all over again for that month. For an entire week, week spoke constantly. I know it cost more money, but it was worth it.
