According to our Wednesday Sept 27 local newspaper there are still 18 state inmates at county jail. There were 3 males and 3 females transferred on Friday Sept 8.

Our sheriff explained how a state inmate is processed through the system. Once someone is found guilty and is sentence by the court,a court transcript must be completed. Then it is given to the circuit clerk's
office and then mailed to Montgomery. It takes about 60 days after sentencing for final paperwork to be processed which during this time they
remain at county jail even though they are a state inmate. Now even though it takes that long it still might take another 2 or 3 months before
they go to Kilby if male or female goes straight to Tutwiler.
