Does anyone know if the Friday visits include the reception center imates as well? And also does anyone know if someone tries to visit having traveled over 250 miles will they process you visiting app on the spot or will they turn you away until you've been approved? Thanks. my hubby is at the NKSP reception center.

Kern Valley doesn't have reception I don't think. North Kern doesn't get Friday visits at all.

This is my first time posting something at this forum and I've been checking out all the info. thanks very much. One thing I would like to add to visits is that they are doing this weird process and it takes longer to get in so try to be there earlier. I went to visit on a sunday, got there at 9am and didn't get to see my friend until 1245pm.

When did they change this I havent heard anything different ! Are you talking about Kern Valley ?? What new process are they doing ??

The Friday visits are were approved for KERN VALLEY STATE PRISON! It's not a guarantee that you will be able to visit with out a visit app already approved. I know if you are out of state they can make an accomidation. You would have to call and ask the visit Lt. to find out to be sure.

I went to visit today!! AWESOME I was number four out of eight people that were there are 8 am. (Last Saturday I was number 445 at 8 am) Come on it doesn't get any better than this, may be a whole 10 tables were filled by noon!! Fridays are great!!

Fridays sound awesome-- no long lines? Woo-hoo! OK, so does a person have to do anything differently than on Saturdays, like call and arrange an appt., or is it first come first serve like the rest of the weekend? BTW, we finally got my husband's approval to go visit our friend there... FOUR MONTHS AFTER APPLYING. We still haven't received my approval yet. Is the waiting process sickening or what?! :blah:
I'm rambling off the topic. Back to Fridays... Please let me know if they're any different. We're thinking about going the Friday after Thanksgiving. Anyone know if that day's good, or do they consider it some kind of holiday or something?

but only in KVSP not NKSP

That's correct. So far North Kern hasn't been given the Friday visits, but all prison are supposed to have them by the end of this year. :thumbsup:
