Hi everyone... just wanted to let you know about the MUSIC THROUGH BARS project that has recently been started on behalf of the Snake River Music Club.

We are currently accepting donations of cd's to be sent to the Music Club Library that is forming in SRCI. If you are interested in helping, please contact me.

I am also seeking information about the access to music in other prisons, both in Oregon and nationally. If you have any information you'd like to share... please post it here.

Music is the oldest language. Music is a sacred thing.

HI Spider,
Do you have more information on the music program at SRCI?
My dad is there and we're from Eugene originally too.

I'm interested to know more details too. I didn't realize Snake River offered something like that.

Thanks for your interest. I've been having some computer issues lately, and will definitely post a detailed description for you really soon. I'm sorry for the wait, but have been having trouble posting.

CLARIFICATIONS:

It has recently been brought to our attention that a few clarifications need to be made regarding the nature of this project.

To avoid double posting, I'd like to direct further discussion of the MUSIC THROUGH BARS project to the PRISON ACTIVISM forum, as it seems to have really taken off there.

It is important to clarify, however, that the Music Through Bars project and the SRCI Music Program are two completely separate entities. The MTB project is solely made up of volunteers, and is not affiliated with DOC staff, programs, or funding in ANY way. Please go to the PRISON ACTIVISM forum for more information or to take part in this discussion. Thanks.
