Well here comes a newbie! My man was just transfered to Solano and for the first time in 3 months I finally got to hear his voice! Oh my god, that was like the greatest 15 minutes of my life! But moving on, I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on how it is in there. How are visits? Oh and I was in the middle of an appeal for visits at HDSP, so should I just start over? Well thanks for your help, apparently I need it! hehe!

YES, you will need to go through the visiting process all over again. :( So, get a new app. asap and send it in. I know how you feel though. I FINALLY got approved at HDSP one week before my man was transferred. But since you were never approved while your man was there, you will need to start all over again. Sorry, but good luck!

Hello, i wanted to post in reference to your question about Solano...I can give you information about yard 2 and just some basic information about yard 1. Visiting for general population on yard 2 is not bad. fridays 1-8, sat and sun 8-3 Yard 1 and 2 visit in the same room and it is closest to the processing area... you just walk to the visiting room. I know the ladies visiting yard 3 and 4 have to ride the little shuttle bus. Yard 1 stays on lockdown quite a bit. I know this because we have a friend in yard 1. Yard 2 does have lockdowns as well but lately it hasnt affected my mans visiting except for medical reasons. Yard 3 and 4 have recently been locked down due to flu. As far as the process, you get there get your number and wait in line until your number is called for you to go into processing. then you go through all that and get to the visiting area and wait for them to call your loved one to visiting. Friday visits are only available to inmates with no disciplinary actions in the last 90 days. There are other women on here that might be able to help you with more information. If you need any more info, please feel free to pm me... if i dont know i can certainly find out. Good luck to you and your man.
happy day

i know it took me about 3 months to get approved but it will eventually happen. my mother in law took longer because they kept "missplacing" her form until she finally went to the visiting office and applied that same day. the sgt or lt can approve visiting at that moment but i think it depends on the circumstances.

i talked to my man last night but he didnt say anything about it... sometimes he will and sometimes he wont... i will not talk to him again until next week but i will try to ask him...

As far as the visiting forms.... call and talk to Lt. Womble.... very nice guy and the visiting lt... he might be able to help you... he was very helpful with a problem i had in october and tried to help me with what he could.

Ladies, I have looked through the california forums for this information but have been unable to find anything specifically to Solano. My man and I are wanting to get married but i have been unable to talk to anyone about solanos specific rules. I know what the general state rules say but i also know that each institution has specifics...If anyone can give me information. I would be greatly appreciative. I know he has to request the marriage packet and all i just want information on what the bride might have to entail in getting everything together....Thanks ahead of time...

I got married last year at solano. If I remember correctly. He requested the marriage packet and once I received it, I filled out my portion and took the paperwork to the county recorder building? Oh, I also forgot, I had to write a letter to his counselor stating why I wanted to marry him and he had to do the same. Also, what a lot of people are UNAWARE of is that YOU have to call the chaplin to set a date before your marriage license expires. The chaplin charged me about 40.00 I think. The prison has its on chaplin or I guess if you would like to use your own, than that's cool. No one, not even my husband's counselor told him that I needed to call to make the date. A friend of his that was recently married had to do it.Good luck hun, and congradulations!Ladies, I have looked through the california forums for this information but have been unable to find anything specifically to Solano. I'm getting married at Solano in two months. The packet is easy to fill out, and yes, you have to call someone to do the service and schedule a date. This information is explained in the marriage packet. They list two pre-approved Reverends who you can call. The cost for the marriage license is $75 and the cost for the Reverend is $50.

And yes, I too had to write a letter to my fiance's counselor, explaining why I want to marry my man, and that I am aware of his charges. Just include that letter when you mail in the packet. The whole process only took about a week. It was very simple.

Hi everyone!

I'm in a mixed mood right now. A part of me is very thrilled that he finally got mainlined because we've talked on the phone most of the day today, BUT I'm quite sad because he's sooooooooooo far from home and visits won't happen as often as I'd like to have them. Driving is definitely out of the question since it's over 8 hours on the road and flying isn't much of a winner with me but it'll have to do for now. I hope you all had good visits during the holidays. :)

Hi Girls! My man is trying to get mainlined to Vacaville. Did any of your men request to go there from reception and actually get sent there? Just curious what the chances are of men actually being sent to the prison requested. If they do then I will probably be talking to you all soon. He did also request Folsom but I hope he goes to Vacaville. Its a lot closer to Sonoma Co. OH - if I was never approved to visit at DVI before he gets transferred then do I really need to fill out a new application? And wait again? Has anyone been recently approved? Is it still taking three months? Does anyone know how fast it takes for them to get transferred? I really want "that phone call" you guys are talking about. Thanks everyone. The support is so appreciated!

jjmitchellsgirl - hi! And welcome, even if for just a little while. :) I can't answer all your questions, but I can tell you that even if you did get approved while he's in reception, you still have to be approved when he's mainlined. From what I've been told, the systems are not the same, they aren't linked. Once he's mainlined & you are approved, you aren't supposed to have to go through it again, but all facilities kind of go by their own rules regarding that. I know my man's transferred 3 times in the past 10 or so years, & I only had to be approved once, but that's not everyone's experience.

Good luck!

pocahonta

if you are approved for visit then which ever facility he goes you will be able to visit. as for being transferred....i can only speak for me....my man requested solano along with soledad but solano was his first choice..and he was sent to solano. so i think it depends on each person and if there is room for another guy. Girl...you only have 3 months to go....lucky you!

It only took about a week to hear back from his counselor with the ok. But your experience may be different since our guys have different counselors. Anyway, then my man sent the marriage license application back to me, and I went to Fairfield to turn it in, paid the fee and that was it. After I calculated the time and figured out which weekends would be ok for he and I to get married, I called the Reverend and scheduled everything. We're all set now.

Hey Ladies My Man Has Requested To Transfer To Solano Because It's Close To Home And Because He Droped Points And His Now Level 2 And He Is Currently At Ctf In Soledad And Visits There Suck So Much It's Way Over Crowded, How Is It Out In Salano?? My Man Wants To Go Because Like I Said It's So Much Closer To Home And Makes It Easier For Us To See Each Other. Do You Ladies Have Termination?? And How Is The Visiting For A Leval 2 Yard?

Termination during visiting just means that your visit was cut short by the visiting staff. The policy at Solano is first in, first out. So, if you were one of the first to get into the visiting room and it gets way over-crowded, your visit will be the first to be terminated. Does this make sense?

Oh yeah I get it now...sorry just wasnt paying attention....I always get in at about 9AM and they try and terminate us, but I show them our paper and it shows that I drove over 250 miles so they never cut us short...im there until 3:15PM.....so anyone driving over the 200 miles..dont let them kick you out...its part of policy.

Thanks William'sBaby...so how are you doing? :)

well at ctf there is always terminations,it's so over crowded there because theres one visiting room for two yards and it gets crazy... we don't ever get terminated because i try and get a higher number and the last time we terminated was father's day, now that was crazy..i am looking forward to solano because like i mentioned how close it is to us. Do you ladies know if the northerners, in solano are locked down?????????? because that's what my hubby is and i hate to have him go into a lock down prison. Thanks!!

I'm new here. My man is in Solano until October. Unfortunately I can't visit because I'm in Idaho. I was pregnant when he got picked up so I had to move out of state to avoid being broke and desperate. At least I can say I've done well on my own. I got out here, got a great job, bought a house and manage to pay all my bills without help but even that doesn't put a smile on my face with my man so far away. We're not married so we're both nervous about facing the whole Interstate Compact deal! Any of you girls have a man in the gym? It'd be great to see if we could give each other extra news! My man calls every couple days so if I knew who you're looking for I could ask him to let me know how they're doing. Just looking for a friend who knows where I'm coming from these days.

Thank God for this board, it's SO nice to have a place to talk to people who know what it's like to have a loved one locked up!

My husband is in Solano as well...but will be coming home soon, in June 07. He's pretty far from me to but not as far as you...my honey was in the gym when he first got there, but then went to a cell (thank god) he said the gym was horrible and I seen some pics of the gym in Solano and it looked crazy...those bed bunks that are three to one....WOW didn't even know such a type existed...anywho I wish you and your honey the best...keep chin up and stay strong.

I'm new with a pen pal in solano. Not even a phone call yet! :-( Are you even allowed to mention any other inmates name in letters or phone calls? You're not in Illinois. Just wondering.

Sunflower76
03-25-2007, 10:04 PM
Dcal, you sure can...I would think though, that you'd just want to use discretion if necessary. With some of my friends, because their activities are nothing to worry about, we don't worry about saying "so & so said hi", or "hey, so & so moved", or "so & so got another year denial." I mean, it's clear we're talking about another inmate, & there have never been any reprecussions.

Jump on in anytime! If you have a specific question it's usually good to start a new thread. That way, things are easy to follow. But threads like this one are for checking in, keeping connected, things like that.

Also, if someone posts online, it's pretty much open for anyone to comment on. It's not an invitation only thing. :) The more, the merrier!

As you have all read, i went to texas last weekend and spent the weekend with my mom. She is terminal and doesnt have much time left, so keep her in your prayers and hope that if it is gods will for her to go now... that it is painfree and quick. My biggest fear is that she will suffer needlessly. She is back in the hospital as of yesterday for chest pains but will possibly get to come home today or tomarrow. They were unable to find any reason for the chest pains, however she has been having quite a few panic attacks recently and these could mimick chest pains. I will update as i can. thank you for always being there ladies....

Just wanted to share with you ladies...
Today's Scripture
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)
God says you need to love even those people who are difficult or seemingly impossible to love. The mark of true believers is the love they have for each other and for those who are not part of God’s family. Did you know there usually is a reason that some people are very difficult to love? More than likely, part of the problem is that they don’t have enough love, which means they need your love the most of all! You have your own personality, and it probably meshes better with certain other personalities. But even with the differences between people, you can still love others with the love God has shown to you. You will be amazed how much things will change if you just take that first step of faith and love the unlovely people around you. They are desperate for love and friendship, and you might make all the difference.
A Prayer for Today
God, give me Your unconditional love for the hard-to-love people in my life. I want to show others what Your love is all about so they will be drawn to Christ. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

There don't seem to be many people here from Solano - or at least not many post, which is disappointing for me since I came from the NKSP/KVSP forum and we were really busy on there. Anyhow, Solano so far for me has been very easy and very relaxed. Is your son in a dorm or a cell?

There is some basic info in the sticky at the top of the page of this forum, but I would also like to know about colors, flip flops, tank tops, etc. I'm also wondering which hotels are the best up there. I picked up bugs from one in Delano - yuck!!! Well, I'm sure someone will come along and answer your questions!! By the way, where's Cottonwood???Hi Everyone!

I'm new to Solano...my son was transferred over from HDSP last week. Here I thought I had to wait for orientation to be over before I could visit but I was told by a very nice man on the Public information line that this was not the case:D Live and learn...any warnings? Advice? Anything would be appreciated:)

Thanks

JiniGurl ~ I'm in Redding! :)

Wisewoman ~ I think one of the reasons the Solano ladies are quiet is because, like you said, dealing with Solano can be pretty easy and relaxed! It's like anywhere though...if you follow the rules and keep yourself informed, things tend to go okay.

As far as clothing goes...I was there a few weeks ago, and wore a "tank top" in. It was the kind though that has a collar & I was covered to my shoulder. You know what I mean? More like a blouse than a t-shirt, but very comfy and cool. I asked at the first check-in place if it was okay and the lady said "it's perfect, thank you so much!". I thought that was funny...they don't usually thank us. :)

They don't seem to be as super-strict about clothing as I've seen them be in the past, but I hear when I'm there that every week it's something different. As I'm sure you know, a good plan is to take an extra set of clothes. Black is always okay. I've seen every shade of orange except for that "blaze" orange they wear. I've seen every shade of green except "CO green". I've seen semi-sheer blouses with camisoles underneath. Somedays they don't mind cleavage, other days it's like you committed the crime of the century if you've got cleavage showing at all. Khaki and tan and beige are good...just no true brown. A lot of women say if you could wear it to church, you should be okay.

Flip-flops are fine, as long as they don't look like shower shoes. So if they are definitely girly or decorated in some way, they're good. There's no back-strap rule.

As for a place to stay, a lot of us stay at the Motel 6 in Vacaville. No bugs yet! :)

Hello Wisewoman,

The info that Sunflower76 gave you is really good. And Motel 6 is your best choice for a cheap but nice hotel. The others are pretty expensive.

They are pretty good about colors. Just no blue jeans or navy blue pants of any kind, no grey sweats, no army or forrest green, no tan shirts or jackets (but tan pants are ok), no plain white T-shirts, and no baby blue like the inmates wear. Actually they only trip if you wear a blue shirt that is similar to the inmate's shirts.

And I wanted to let you all know this. If any of you ever wear nurse's "scrubs" they are no longer allowing those at CSP-SOLANO. They will make you change if you are wearing them, no matter what color. So just an FYI.
Anyway, Wisewoman enjoy your visit! Vacaville is a really nice town. :D And my CSP-Solano guide has a bunch of info about other hotels, restaurants, etc.

Thanks for all the info - you ladies are wonderful help!! Hey, one last question - I have a nose piercing and one of my friends said that at another prison (Corcoran, I think) they made her take it out - do you know anything about Solano's policy on that???? It hurts so bad taking it in and out that it would make me cry if I had to!!

thanks again, girls!

Hey everyone  I'm from the Central Valley & I have a brother in Solano, we haven't been up to see him in a couple of months, it's about a 4 hour drive for us so we don't go so often. I can only say good things about our visits there, the co's aren't too bad, the only bad thing like I mentioned above, the drive :blah:

GOD BLESS!!!!I just went for my first visit last weekend and I agree ... the CO's were wonderful compared to what we dealt with at NKSP. What a difference ... it was a good experience all the way around.

I too drove ... but my drive is 8 hours.:blah: It was grueling - especially since I crammed 16 hours of driving into one weekend to be back at work at 6 am on Monday morning. Next time (Labor Day Weekend) - I'm flying!!!:D I was so exhausted I only really felt like half a person the whole time I was there.

I will say something about the Motel 6 though ... a couple of very sweet ladies here on PTO recommended it. The people we dealt with there were very rude. There were rowdy teenagers who kept us up all night on Friday and the front desk wouldn't do anything about it. They would not give us more than 2 bath towels, even though there were 3 of us so we had to share wet towels, our shower curtain was ripped and hanging loosely from the ceiling and yes ... there were bugs in our room. (not bed bugs, but crawly little things with even small webs and stuff in the corners and on the ceiling) and our room was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but there were holes from cigarette burns in all of our sheets and bedding and our room was smelly. I am glad others have had a good experience at that particular location, but I would never stay there again and give it a two thumbs down. Just my :twocents: !!!

I can't wait to go back up in August. The Vacaville area is very nice. I was amazed that the prison was so integrated into the community - rather than being in the middle of nowhere!!:)

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad hotel experience. :( Motel 6 is basically the only "cheap" hotel in Vacaville. There are many nice hotels, but they are very expensive. Right up the street is the Fairfield Inn and from what I remember rooms are over $100 a night on weekends. Same goes for the Residence Inn and the Courtyard.

But, there is a hotel a few blocks away (Near the Leisure Town Road freeway exit), that is called Holiday Inn Express. I've heard the prices are not too bad, but I have never actually stayed there. Here is the info:

Maybe Gryphon or JLS can answer this for you. If he had more time to go he could file a 1381, but don't think there is enough time to get it filed and answered. Sorry for the situation. Seems stupid to put them in jail because they missed their probation 'whatever "because they were in prison. When you put it down in black and white it really looks dumb. sorry

Welcome HisRib79. He has to get a visiting form there, sign it and then send it to you. You fill it out and send it back. When they decide yes or no they tell him and he tells you (if it's yes). If it's denied they tell him and send you a letter. I've read it takes 6-8 weeks. I haven't been approved yet, so can't speak about visiting. Read the Solano Info in the sticky at the top of this forum. It will give you all of the basic info. Sorry I can't help more.

ThanksHi and welcome. Visitation is really relaxed at Solano - it just takes a while to get in to see the men if you happen to visit on the backside of the facility - you have to wait for a shuttle. Sometimes it takes me 2 hours to get in. But ... dress code is fairly easy - the CO's have always been nice to me. It's much more laid back than other places I've been to. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me - I'll be happy to answer if I can!!

Hello all,
As far as my experiences with solano, most of them are good. the only thing i have noticed them being really strict about is the low cut shirts on women. They will make you change. Says it must cover your breasts. Most of the CO's are decent on the front side. Friday visiting takes the longest to process in on or at least when i have been there. We will all be happy to answer any questions you may have... just ask away.

Glad you guys are here.

have a blessed day

Hi sickandsad,

There is something called the CSP-Solano Guide (http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=201915). Everything you need to know about visiting (and about the prison in general) can be found in that guide. Here is a link to the section about visiting: Visiting an inmate at CSP-Solano (http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1942309&postcount=6). Check out both links and your questions will be answered.

Its been a while since ive been in here....my husband came home June 17 and its been a rough road. He has not been able to find a job and has been out running the streets alot. I cannot believe the stress this has caused us in all. I continue to pray for him and hope that he survives out here.

Hello everyone, I am new to CSP Solano from Delano. I want to go visit but I am not sure about how to get approved there. I was told today that I could go up there and complete the paperwork and because I am coming from Los Angeles (so far away) I could be approved in an hour. Have any of you every heard that? I also need to send a package. Do I need to wait for my husband to send me anything or can I just send it?

My husband was transferred there at Solano yesterday, i was just approved for visits at DVI, and prepared to visit him there, now i'm all screwed up!!! I scheduled an appointment for Sunday, now after reading the Solano Guide, I think it's a non-contact visit. He also has alot of questions, being in the gym, is that temporary? Does anyone know what the classification hearing is about? He wanted to go to firecamp, but he's in the wrong place for that, could that change? He also heard about the SAP program, wanted to know if he would get out faster for that, I didn't think so, but I told him I would ask. I'm bringing our 3 month old baby on Sunday....can anyone tell me what that is like?

It is fairly relaxed at Solano. The CO's in processing are pretty cool, even the CO's in the visiting area. They do not mess with you unless you do something that you shouldn't be doing. You can not be on the grounds before 7 am. You can not park along Peabody Rd in front of the prison or else you will get a ticket from the Vacaville Police. Before there used to be a car line before 7 am but it was causing too many problems with kids running around all over.

When you go on Sunday more than likely you will get in right away. On yard 1 the blacks are on lockdown as well as all inmates in builings 4 and 5 (yard 1). On yard 2 the Northen and Southern Hispanics are on lockdown which includes H dorm. What dorm (gym) is your husband in? If your husband is on yard 3 or 4 then you will have to take a shuttle to the other side. You get processed at the main building and from there they shuttle you over there. Hope this help you out. :)

My husband was transferred to Solano last week (09/27/07). When he was in DVI I sent in the visiting form about 5 weeks ago. I know that approved visitors follow him. Since, I don't know if I am apporved or not ( I don't know why I wouldn't be approved). Should I send in another form??? Any thoughts. Would this just make the approval process longer? Thank you in advanced.

I havent read any posts here so maybe you know this. Next sunday Oct.7, Discovery Channel is showing a special titled Breaking Point. I do not know the time in your area it will air.

Yes there is a post about Ted Koppels documentary about Solano. It's actually on the Discovery Times channel. I have satellite tv and it will be on at 6:00 pm. Not sure about cable.

niragub, you should be able to go visit. But to be on the safe side you can send another visiting form. Or you can have your husband ask if you are approved to visit. Do you know what yard your husband is at?

The program is on the regular Discovery Channel on Sunday, October 7 at 9pm. Also on Discovery TImes on Oct 8 and several times over the following two weeks.

Here's a clip. I believe a lot of the program was filmed in H Dorm.

I don't see why you would have to fill out another form since you were approved for DVI. But to be on the safe side go ahead and send another form. If you are visiting someone who is in yards 3 and 4 then you will have to take a shuttle to the other side of the prison. You still process at the main office. From there you take the shuttle. Also make sure you call in advance to check if there is a lockdown. 1-800-374-8474 options 1,2, 3. My friend drove over 2 hours to Vacaville. I called when she was on her way to Solano to let her know they went on lockdown and she had just arrived to the prison. She was furious!!!

I just wanted to know if any one knew how the friday visits work at solano??? vs the regulor visiting days..what days are better to visit less people i was planning on going this weekend but it depends on the weather..once you get to the prison the waiting are is outside?? where you can get wet? just wondering if visit would be a good choice for this weekend..any help ladies??? thank you!!!:D

Good question. I've only visited once on a Friday and the main problem was timing. They start at 1:00 I think, but we didn't get there until two. By the time we got in and processed it was after 3:00. They don't let anyone in during count, so we sat in the visiting room for about an hour and a half playing cards until they finished count and he could finally come in. Guess the moral of this story is if you don't get there when they open it, you might as well wait until 5:00. If they are already in the vivinting room when they start count, then they get to stay. There seem to be a lot fewer people ther on the Friday we went, but only went once, so will have to hear from others.

Hey JMBABY--- They actually found a 22 caliper bullet and their looking for the gun. They are doing a thourough sweep of every cell and every gym on every yard, in every nook and cranny. This might be one of those long lockdowns. But I'm praying that its not. Havent got to see him since our family visit which was the 6th. This happened last time too. Them going on lockdown right after our visit. Mrs.JMBABY call me or e-mail me so we can chat..

Anyone heard any more news regarding the lockdown at Solano this weekend? I know they are going through some big changes there and have been doing a lot of searches and transfers. How has visiting been the past 2 months or so? I am coming over 400 miles to visit in 2 weeks and the last time I came they terminated visiting right before I was going in on a Friday with no explanation as usual.

Thanks for any information.

Chantelle, you moved so far to be able to see your husband and now theres a lockdown for who knows how long. Thanks for the info ladies!!!

The visiting hotline was updated at noon today...recording says solano on lockdown until further notice. I've never been through a "lockdown" like this before.....does anyone know what is going on? When they may be able to make phone calls? I guess I'm flipping out, I talk to my husband every day....I did...this is really rough

D and B, I hope you've had a chance to read the other threads regarding what's happening at Solano, I'm hoping someone like aliferzwife or Sgt. will update us on what's happening now.

Hey everyone,

I am also worried about what is going on as I have not heard from my husband for 5 days and we talk every day. Last time I talked to him was last Thursday night. Anyone know more about what is going on? Lockdown does not always mean the phones are off right?

If my husband could get to a phone he would have because he's pretty good at getting a call out if there's any chance at all. I haven't heard anything so this must be a full slam.

I read somewhere that the lockdown will last 30 days. My friends husband is at CMF and he told his wife the same. He also said no one is going to work or able to use the phone. So it is a major lockdown. I guess thats why no one has received calls from their loved ones. I wonder what's really going on? It is frustrating!!!

I Recvd A Letter Today. I Usally Get Letters 1 To 2 Days After He Sends Them. He Didn't Say To Much But That They Said They May Be Lockdown For 30 Days Or More. They Have All Kind Of Excuses For Why They Are Seacrching, But Nothing That They Are Able To Justify.

I really hope you ladies will share when do do get a call. Sunday will be 3 weeks if I don't hear from my son before then. I have gotten way better at not worrying as much as I did in the first days, but this is kind of long, and sounds as though it might be longer. Ouch. My son hasn't been receiving visits, I live in Mexico, and everyone else is so far away, also but I really feel for the guys that are used to their weekend visits. This must be really hard on them. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you that visit on weekends and your guys.

If a bullet was found; I guess they're looking for a gun? Maybe they should search the staff. They have been known to take in cell phones. Nothing surprises me. Getting paid big bucks, earning some extra by being crooked and breaking the law. I don't think it takes 4-6 weeks to look for something that probably does not exist. It just angers me that "they" can do what they want with these inmates. I've been going to Solano for the past 2 years. It seems like every year they put the entire prison on a serious lockdown right before summer or during the summer. These people think we are stupid but in reality they are the fools. SGT. I don't include you because you have been fair to all of us on PTO. I don't think we will get the truth about the lockdown. I am just frustrated!!!

I'm pretty frustrated too...is there anything we can do? Call anyone to find out what is going on? It just seems preposterous why this could be affecting the entire prison???? I heard another rumor that a co planted it themselves to get hazard pay???? I just don't know and I have found out the hard way that people just dont' have much integrity, everyone out for themselves....sorry, having a rough time with all of this...supposed to encourage families..yada yada yada....why can't they clear the ones that are coming up clear????? laziness??? Anyone know of anything else??? Can we call and put a little pressure on speeding up their lack of professionalism....i guess i'm rambling...This SUCKS....the phone calls and visits from my husband keep me balanced....it's a difficult time raising a baby with a pre-teen and a teen-ager...so I'm emotionally and physically worn out...he's my light through these rough times....now this!!!! Any new news please post....

A friend of mine is at Solano and I got mail from him yesterday which said that they found a second bullet on a DIFFERENT yard and that's why they slammed the entire prison. He says staff is telling them 30 days in order to complete full searches of all 4 yards - and all the cells/dorms. He didn't know if visiting would be affected again this weekend.

Hope this helps.

Well my husband wrote me i got three letter's and he says the samething about the lockdown for 30 days..and he said something very interesting he was wondering if they were going to start the 30 days from now and or count the days that they have all ready been down? well i think no one knows for sure what is going on and how long the lockdown will last and I know my husband is feeling it big time! I really do wonder if there is anything that we can do? cmf next door had two escapes and still are normal programing and to me that is so odd that solano over a bullet that they found and if there was a gun you know someone that is a crocked staff brought it in. I think the gun may be long gone because it just does not make sense..

They tend to "find" a bullett every year around this time. It's just something you gotta get used to I guess.

aliferzwife
04-03-2008, 11:55 AM
It would be my guess that as soon as the searches are done, they will bring the yards back up. I find it very suspect that they found a bullet on 2 separate yards. I'd also think that since they've already searched a couple of the yards, that it shouldn't be 30 days from now, though who really knows?

I'll be curious to see if visiting is allowed this weekend. There is no reason they can't run visiting.

The visiting hotline was updated today just before 10am...it says no visiting for Friday and it's still undetermined for Saturday and Sunday...it's better than "until further notice"...Gosh I hope they do!!!

Here is info from Lt. Wamble:

The current Modified Program is institution wide, and is the result of the discovery of extremely dangerous contraband. Due to this contraband the entire institution is undergoing a systematic and thorough search.

We are trying to complete the search as expeditiously as possible and still do a thorough job. A decision on visiting will be made later today, and will immediately be posted on the 800 line. I believe the search will probably take us at least through next week, and very possibly the following. But again, the search is for the safety and security of the institution, staff and inmates; and will be completed as efficiently and expeditiously as possible.

Currently, inmates are not reporting to work or education assignments, and there are no phone calls being allowed. All aspects of the search process are being evaluated and updated daily.

The search is not the result of any medical issue, or inmate disturbance (riot).

I can't speak for the rest of the institution's phones, but I know mine has been working.

Hi ladies, I got a letter from my son, he didn't seem to know about the bullet, but was aware of the search for a "home made gun" That may mean they are searching for pieces in different places. He did say that anything that could go bad, is. I know you ladies that have weekly visits, and had this rock your world are suffering the worst, as are your fellas. My boy does look forward to his phone calls though. Let's all keep our fingers crossed and say a prayer that it will be over befor long.

todays news paper in vacaville says lockdowns are over at CPS-Solano for all you who need to know

William'sBaby
04-08-2008, 12:51 PM
The paper may be wrong though. Yes, the state-wide lockdown (because of the Tehachapi stabbing) is over, but Solano was already locked down before that incident even happened. They were on lockdown because a bullet was found on one of the yards. So, Solano may still be on lockdown.
