I have read the majority of the threads and I still just have a couple of questions. Any help would be appreciated. I am self surrendering at Bryan on Jan.8, 2007 for 7.5 months. I am ordered to pay 50% a month towards my $62,000 in restitution. Can anyone tell me when that will start? If I take in $290, will they take 50% off the top? I am concerned about how I will buy the things I need when I get there.
Also, is there excersize equipment there? I believe I read in one thread that there is a track. Do they have any sort of classes? I am a pretty big girl and have a goal to lose as much weight as possible while there.
Lastly, will someone sort of help me when I get there? Like explain where things are, how to find a job, take classes, ect? I have never been to jail and not sure what in the world to expect.
Again, I thank anyone for answering these. I tried to read everything before posting my own questions.

Margie, they will not take half of you $290 right off the top. By the way, that $290 does not include your phone time or postage stamps. Since you have such a short sentence, you will unlikely pay very much.

There are some very fine ladies at Bryan and you will have people that will help you from the moment you arrive. The day after your arrival you will have orientation which will answer a lot of your questions.

There is a walking track and they have cardio equipment like stairmasters and treadmills as well as some nautilus type equipment. There are also aerobic classes taught by other inmates.

You will be fine. 99% of the people there have never been in trouble before and never will be again.

I was just released from Bryan in July - if there are any questions you have, feel free to ask.

CatherineP. My girlfriend is currently in Bryan. Did you know her? Lyssa Patin

I sure did - she was in the unit next to mine. I was in B-1. She did some volunteer work for us at recreation during the holiday games. That's how I knew her, mostly.
