The early release program they are doing the study on is mostly for non violent offenders they are studying the effects early release has both good and bad, they are d=going to reintroduce the bill that got voted down last year on releasing almost 1000 inmates on electronic monitoring to reduce prison population and budget problems. It only lost by 2 votes last year. Let me hunt through my notes and things to find the name and addy of the person who wrote the bill and maybe we can get a letter campain going to him and the other reps to make sure this comes back up for a vote and to maybe get it passed this time.

The meeting is open to the public according to Lynn Powell of OKCURE and I am still waiting for an answer from the reps but maybe if enough email them asking them to reintroduce it we can get them to do so for sure. I also have the article where they voted it down by only 2 votes last session. I will be in touch with you both soon.

I am interested. James was not a non-violent offender when he was sentenced. But Id still be willing to send a letter. Do you have the address for the regular mail and exaclty what the law is so that I can read through it so I know what Im talking about when I write to them?
Thanks Sarah

Hi, i'm so new to this and I am hoping to find the support and information that will give me hope for my niece. She appeared in Tulsa on an Judicial Review and even though the DOC had recommended her sentence be cut in half, the Judge sent her back to EWCC to do 85% of her sentence. She has been in prison for 1 1/2 years and she has recevied excellent write ups and moved from medium to minimum security, got her GED and attended parenting classes, domestic violence and NA/AA meetings. She is a violent offender...but the Judge who sch the Judicial Review was no longer there. I guess I want to know if there is hope she could still be released before 2010. I would also help others if I can.

Its is supposed to be reintroduced to the legislature this coming session the meeting was part of an interium study. But feel free to write your legislators and ask them to support the measure when it comes to a vote. If you look at the top there is a topic titled oklahoma Doc resources I will add the link to the states legislative pae and you can go there to figure out who you need to write for your area.
