View Full Version : Success Story!
shygirlkitty_nj 08-11-2003, 11:18 PM I suppose I can be considered a success story. I was in prison for 14 months following a felony conviction. I was given parole for another year (I just maxed out last month! ) and I still have my family and a job thatI love. Initially, it was hard getting back into the job market, becasue of the record and the type of training I have is all financial. Parole would not allow me to work in that field anymore, so it was hard. But I did luck out with a dream job at a large Church, was honest with the Minister, and he did not betray my confidence. I' ve been working there for a year next month and Im being sent to a Management level school specializing in religious office management. Just have faith and God will open doors that otherwise would be shut.
shygirlkitty_nj,
Thanks for sharing this with us!
(I split this post from the introduction to this Forum as I thought that it deserved its own thread...)
Congratulations on your success, and our prayers and hope for your continued success...
If there is anything more that you can share with our members that would be great! I know that there are other members on here that are having a difficult time finding employment and / or just getting by!
Thanks for sharing!

carolK 08-14-2003, 08:09 AM It's great to hear a success story, thanks so much for posting. I too will never be able to work in the financial field again. Getting a job with a felony conviction on your back is so hard, but it is doable. Thanks for sharing!
affectionately,
Carol
andreamarie 08-17-2003, 02:38 AM My favorite saying is "FOOTPRINTS", the part where it says when I looked back I only saw one set of footprints that's because God was carrying you. I loved your story, keep doing what your doing and I wish you the best of luck always.

MissOne 09-05-2003, 06:07 PM It brings me joy when i hear testimonies like yours. I to work at a large church but could be looked down upon if they knew of my relatioinship with me baby. It is a shame but stories like yours bear witness that God is still in control and will bless those whose heart is pure.
THANK YOU!!! There is hope for us all.
allybay 09-05-2003, 09:26 PM Congrutulations on your success! It is wonderful to read a story like yours.
christeagleian 10-01-2003, 02:28 PM I am a success story. In 1998 I walked out on my wife and two young children. I filed for divorce and got in another relationship. Prior to 98 Iwas 36 years old and did not have so much as a traffic ticket. From 1998 until 2002 I moved around the country wit this woman I was in a relationaship with. In 2002 I was incarcerated due to something she had don and pinned on me(no drugs, alcohol or violence). While in jal the Lord truly showed me the error of my ways and the sin I was living in. After much prayer I contacted my ex wife. fter prayer and consideration, we reconciled. When I was released in July 2003 I returned to Nashville to be close to my ex wife and my children. Things are going great. We are in prayer regarding remarriage. My kids love having Daddy around. I am working. The church which my ex wife and children are membrs refuses to let me attend worship with them but I can accept thier unforgiveness.
I thank GODfor a loving family. He truly blessed me. I never knew ituntil it was almost too late. Key to exoffenders making it is GOD,Family, and Faith. I pray for all those who are still incarcerated and those who are out and trying to make it.:)
Marksgirl 11-18-2003, 02:56 AM My husband did 15 years 4 months in Kansa State prison, he has been out for nearly two years and makes 50 thousnd a year. He has proven himself to society and to me over and over again. I wish all luck when they get out. Stand behind your man
TonyaC32 11-18-2003, 06:01 AM I do agree, as long as you keep your faith in God, doors will open. That is a great story.
new4az 11-20-2003, 04:45 AM Having been there ... done the time ... and dealt with the struggles of being an ex-felon ... I just want everyone to know that the best thing you can do to help a person 're-entering' life on the outside is to just be there ... be supportive .. be the cheerleader ... give them somebody to prove something to ... something to motivate them to go on against the challenges ... it is hard, but with love and understanding anything can be done.
It sounds like your doing wonderful for your self. :) I am so happy for you
God Bless you
