i know his cdc # goes after his name but what about the housing?
he's in yard 3, g-dorm, 125M...(what does the 125 number and the M stand for?)
help, please!

HNo question is a dumb question here :)
Here is how I write my friend in Solano
Name, CDC#
Csp Solano
1*-D8* (so yours may go 3G-125M I am thinking)
P.O. Box 4000
Vacaville Ca
95696-4000
125 means cell or bunk # and M usually means middle bunk

Abby, I agree with Calif Sunshine there are no dumb questions. Asking questions is how we all learn. We were all new to this at some point in time, and over the years we have grown and learned more about the system and how to function within it.
Here is how I address the letters to my husband:
Name
CDC # and Housing Unit (T12345 -- 4/115L) I just made up these numbers to give you an example of how I do it
P O Box 4000
Vacaville, CA
95696-4000
I never ever put the name of the prison on my mail and up to this point my husband has never had any problems receiving his mail. This has worked for me so this is why I continue to do it in this way.

Solano doesn't seem to care if the name of the prison is on the envelope, which is nice. There are other facilities that won't deliver the mail if the name isn't on the envelope. I can't figure out why...is it in case we forget where we're writing?:)

thx to all for the replies, you guys are sweethearts! I think I get it now hehe...:p
yeah, I'm pretty sure they make us write the name of the institution for OUR sake, not theirs...being the considerate & helpful people they are
much love to all :) !!
