View Full Version : Lock Up: Valley State Prison for Women
Imani 09-10-2006, 07:42 AM Did anyone see that show last night on MSNBC? So sad! These women there are facing so many abandonment issues that are unreal. Women don't have to many visitors in prison! I wonder why that is? They showed a visiting room with only one woman there and her family that's it no one else had any loved ones to come and see them. They said the men in their lives don't come and see them anymore once locked-up,don't know how true that is because I never known any women that were in prison.

Yeah! He knows it's his son:) I'm sure that he'll come and visit me if I ever get busted no doubt about it. He just would have a hard time with that felony hanging over his head from what I read on here.

Sadie80 09-10-2006, 01:40 PM Statistics show that 70% of all men would not do (be faithful, wait, write letter's, visit, etc.) what we women do for our men in prison if the roles were reversed. Sad but true.

I think it's true also, that most men would not see their women in prison. That show was so sad to watch with all those women locked up pregnant and having babies and nobody shows up.
mexhika_luv 09-12-2006, 01:26 PM :( i had no idea!! i'd imagine their sisters or MOMS would go visit them, I've contemplated about this(women in jail)and thought about it but I never knew it was THAT bad...but come on, these women MUST have moms, and I should suppose all moms care about their children no matter what they've done or where they are!
heck, never mind the husbands/boyfriends...i just can't picture that scenario like many of you have said!!
hehe oh well...hey that just proves who IS the stronger sex...right? ;)
ltd0096 09-14-2006, 12:05 AM I don't know about this. I have a friend at VSPW. She gets a visit from at least her mom, sometimes her aunt, almost every week. Her mom and aunt were not doing anything for her while she was out. I have not really talked her about this but she would have said something if a lot of the women did not get any visits.
Strasse 09-14-2006, 12:47 AM When I visited at CCWF, except for right before Christmas visiting was always half empty. (There's 50 or so tables, one inmate per table, on each "side" (A side, B side) of visiting. So space for 100 inmates getting a visit. At a facility with over 3,000 women. Very, very rarely was even the A side full (B side would be locked and dark), let alone both sides. Sad.
