Has anyone heard anything about the shooting incident a short while ago at Solano. From the little information I received it appears that families were visiting in the Level 3 visting room and heard a barage of gun fire. The incident happened on Yard 1. Two ambulances with a police escort were seen leaving the prison just a little after 11:00 this morning.

I have called several radio and tv stations. They have heard rumors but nothing has been sustandiated yet. I also called the fire dept on Alamo Drive around the corner from the prison and they said they were not the ones who responded to the call.

My husband is on yard one and I am freakin frantic. I called the Chaplin on his cell phone and left a message. As you can see I am on pins and needles.

Y'all I need help here if you have any info at all please let me know.

The media released a short article but the article only stated that visitors where turned away due to suspicious activity at Solano. Let's hope that this turns out to be nothing at all.

Five Inmates Injured in Massive Solano Prison Fight

Prisoners at California State Prison, Solano were under lockdown Saturday following a prison melee earlier in the day involving 91 inmates.

Prison officials said two rival gangs of white and Latino inmates started the fight in the prison yard Saturday morning.

Five inmates were taken to the hospital with slash or stab wounds. Three were treated and released back to the prison and another is expected to be returned to his cell Saturday night, Solano Prison Lt. Tim Wable said.

The remaining prisoner may require surgery, Wable said.

Visitors at the prison at the time of the fight were quickly escorted out and visitors hours were cancelled for the rest of the day. The prisoners remained under lockdown Saturday and there was no immediate word when that restriction would be lifted.

Wow. This is so horrible. I appreciate that you took the time to update this thread. My thoughts and prayers are with those who where injured and with the member's of PTO that have loved one's at Solano.

The only way I think you could find out if your husband was involved would be to call Solano. Hopefully the staff there would be kind enough to assist you.

this is horrible, my best friend just got transferred there this past week and I don't even know which yard he was in?? I got a call from him early sat. morn around 8am and he hasn't called since...

Just to let you know my mother works for the prison in Vacaville where this happened. I contacted her tonight after reading this post. There were seven people taken to the hospital and there are 2 that are in very serious condition. She said there were over 100 people involved in the fight. She said it was the whites and the Latins that were involved.

Yard 1 and 2 are the yards that are on lock down right now and 3 and 4 are open.

The men that were taken to the hospital were all white. There were shots fired she said but it was only bean bags being used, not actual bullets so I hope this will also ease your worries a little more too.

Unfortuantely we will all have to wait until tomorrow morning to call the prison to get any and all of our questions answered. I know I will be calling the warden's office first thing in the morning. As soon as I know anything I will post the information here for all of you. I think at this point all any of us can do is to pray. There is power in prayers. And the support you all have shown to each other and as a group is phenonmenial. We will all get thru this -- just keep thinking positive thoughts.
