Hello people...
My husband is finally being transfered to Wasco, well at least for a little while. I just wanted to ask what to espect from this experience.

Hi there, My friend Matt just left there. He was there about 2 months. I was approved for visiting him in about 3 weeks. Visiting was Friday 1:30-8, Sat. and Sun. 8:30- 3:00. I only went once to visit and it was behind the glass for an hour. I don't know if it depends on what yard they're on though. Mail took about 5-6 days to get to me. I was able to send in pics, jokes I printed out from online. I sent a variety of things to entertain him. The only thing was I sent a pattern in of a tattoo and my mail was red flagged whatever that means and he didn't get those. I hope some of this info helps you out. I'm still learning all the ropes. I'm new to this:( If you have any other questions I will try and help you out. Take care, Andrea

Well, thank you for the info. I am just anxiously waiting to get contact visits!
Hopefully he won't have to stay there very long...
Do you know if there is a limit on how many pictures we can send? When he was in county jail, he had over 60 pics of me....=)

I usually sent about 5 or 6 at a time and never had any problems. He has tons of pictures of me to. It's nice and they really enjoy the pictures. I have a web cam so I would just snap a pic before I mailed out his letter that day. So he always knew how I looked as I sat down to write him his letters. I have the # to mail @ Wasco. Would you like it. You can always call and find out the limit. Let me know and i'll get it to you. Bye 4 now, Andrea

Well, thanks for replying again!
Yeah, if you have the number to Wasco, then it would be nice if I could have it.
Where do you live anyway? You said you went to visit him once. How far was the drive for you? How long did you wait for the guards to bring him out? Did they strip you down too? I just want to know how strict they were...
Talk to you later!

Hello, The # to Wasco is 1-661-758-8400 the mail room ext. is 7108. I also have a visitors hot line: 1-800-374-8474. I drove about 2 1/2 hours. I live in Santa Maria. It took about an hour for them to bring him out. All I had to do was take off my shoes and ear rings. I had no problems getting through. I was really nervous though. But it was really good to see him. Even if it was just a hour behind glass. All my nervousness melted away once I saw his face. Good luck with everything! If you have any more questions i'm more than willing to help. Take care, Andrea :)

I VISITED WASCO FOR 3 MONTHS AND IT'S NOT FUN. THE FEMALE GAURDS IN THE FRONT ARE VERY RUDE AND VERY PICKY ABOUT CLOTHES, BUT ONCE YOU GET TO THE BUILDING WERE YOU WILL VISIT THAT GAURD THERE IS REALLY NICE ,HE'S FUNNY AND TALKS TO EVERYONE. IT'S GOING TO SUCK TO ONLY VISIT THROUGH GLASS UNTIL HE GETS TO A MAINLINE AND YOU ONLY GET TO VISIT FOR 1 HOUR. BUT ALL YOU CAN DO IS THINK ABOUT HTE TIME YOU DO GET TO SPEND TOGETHER AND HOLD ON FOR THE FUTURE.

MEHAUL.....mu husband was in Wasoc for 2 months,
Heres the process: the court sentence is 11 years.
While he is there you canvisit him AFTER he send you the visiting form and you send it back to get apprived. If you are approved he will let you know. If not, Wasco will send you a letter stating the reason why. He will see a counselor shortly, The counselor will tell him his level example. Level 1 2 3 or 4.
Wasco is a Reception Center where he will stay until he gets sent to the Prison where he will do his time. He could be sent any where there is a bed in his Level. You can send him Postal Money order ONLY now if you have his CDC #. He can purchase some goodies while he waits. They will wake give him a paper bag the night before he is sent out. The bag will have the name of the Prison he is going to. They next morning he will wake up bright and early and be off to the BIGG HOUSE! Once he is there, he will get another counselor that will tell his everhthing he needs to know. Classes, work etc. If he is serving 11 years wiht half time......AFTER he get a job hi half time starts. BUT.....since a death was invloved thats makes it more detailed. Well thats the basics!
Good luck...
Go to the CDC wedsite and you will find Wasco information there about visitng hours etc.
